Certainly some of the responses are "nitpicky" IMO. But I think that's at least partly because some of us are tired of discussing the IMO bigger questionable (and/or objectionable) elements such as the lackluster storyline, mediocre dialog, quests & interface and gameplay elements like...

I find it amusing to contemplate a (religious) group, all with all Luck 10+, who can walk around oblivious to the danger around them - and perhaps even benefit from it. The Glowing Radscorpion strikes at you, and critically fails, decapitating itself into a lantern and night-light combo...

In my idealistic youth I did some mission relief work to an area of abject poverty. Despite holes in their own homes and roofs, every day there were people out tending to the graves and grounds of the cemetery. That said... they didn't have radscopions (etc) to deal with, and the headstones...

I'm too old to know about all this "new math", but I count 200 years from bombs to FO3. And I think it's very fun that the time-line for FO1 & 2 includes not just a date, but a TIME. Talk about attention to detail. [Edited for reading comprehension]

Thus spoke the buzzword oracle: -> IMMERSION <- Ha. But seriously, while hopefully secondary, think of how distracting bad quality (or arcade type) sounds, voices, and yea even graphics can detract from the believability and enjoyability of an rpg setting.

I find that one of the more interesting things to come out of the leak is that with 173 user ratings, Fallout 3 has a 82% rating over on the xbox forums. Perhaps pirates (or so I assume) are considerably MORE picky than most of the reviewers to date...
