Have you replayed Fallout 3 yet? How was it?

That is a pretty good metaphor. A lot of people don't like wine, though. FO/FO2 are superlative CRPGs and folks coming in to CRPGs on games like Oblivion are going to be like folks presented with a glass of Marques de Caceras Reserva when all they've ever been exposed to is Budweiser or Sutter...

Interplay announces Fallout 3 licensing deal with Bethesda

Not meaning to flamebait. If you're feeling provoked then I'll let it lie and apologize for offending you. If I presented my opinions regarding Origin as fact then I did indeed fuck up. I was playing CRPG's back in 85, though, yes.

Interplay announces Fallout 3 licensing deal with Bethesda

The Zork series and its text based companions had far more influence on persistent state than the Ultima series, I feel. Again, Ultima did little more than take a existing ideas from established games and - as far as I'm concerned, I admit to being hazy minded because there's not enough coffee...

Interplay announces Fallout 3 licensing deal with Bethesda

Well, you kinda skipped where I more or less agreed that the series eventually failed anyway. HOMM 1, 2 and 3 were great games and completely different format, Turn-Based Strategy vs. TB CRPG. MMVI could turn into an entirely too long debate so I'll conceded the point to you. I never...

Interplay announces Fallout 3 licensing deal with Bethesda

That was the one that caught my eye the most, since I read all these posts and through a lot of it, I was thinking that sometimes, just sometimes, a game changes format and stays true to its nature - MMVI, HOMM and Wizardry:Nemesis, the Ultima games (which I personally loathe, garbage doesnt...

Reasons why FO is a RPG like D&D

I wouldn't consider EQ or any of the FF games to be real RPG's either. EQ = a crappy massive-population version of HEXEN with worse graphics and fewer options for its time, and FF = interactive comic book.

    Fallout PnP questions

"Prepare to embrace your creators in the stygian haunts of hell, barbarian", gasped the first soldier. "Only after you have kissed the fleeting stead of death, wretch!" returned Grignr.

    Fallout PnP questions

GameDev, I hope Roshambo flames you into a smoking cinder and your 'game' is reduced to a puddle of liquid char. I've been playing games online since I first discovered the joy of Barren Realms Elite back in the late 80's. Wanna know something? It's assholes like you that murder the online...

    Terminator 3

Fallout 2 does mention Skynet. I believe you can get it in your party, though I never managed to. T3 didn't really seem to have any connection to FO other than "Here come nukes omfg"; I really kinda thought the movie sucked anyway. I was hoping for mass chaos and destruction and all I got was...

FALLOUT/FALLOUT 2 SUCK BECAUSE... (ONELINERS ONLY)

They suck because they're not an infinite gaming contiuum constantly providing an endless supply of new post-apocalyptic gaming fix.

    Overseer and Rhombus.

I guess not being able to take someone out in FO would be kind of annoying. At least they don't just force it into comic-book mode and have him run off whimpering like they do Imoen in that crap series BG.

    most newbie-thing done on fallout

"Noobest thing I ever did was play through the game the slow way instead of getting electronic lockpicks, picking brotherhood door, and getting Power Armor waaaayyyyyyy early. " You can do that? Bah.

World of fallout, is it possible?

I'd think we're too far away from controlled, localized fusion reactors to realistically hope for atomic powered personal vehicles. The next 'leap' needs to be chemical, rather than atomic, I think. Then again, those 'leaps' have probably already been made and tidily filed away somewhere...

Tell me about the 50's... what do you wish fallout included?

You are correct, Lovecraft had a number of predecessors, and my statement was made in error. To my knowledge, he was one of the first popular 'pulp' writer of gothic horror, if not the first, at least in the U.S., but that doesn't really validate my error any; the point of it was that he wasn't...

Tell me about the 50's... what do you wish fallout included?

Hm. Lovecraft wasn't really a Sci-Fi author, he's better known for more or less inventing the 'gothic horror' genre. I think the only Sci-Fi story he actually wrote was "The Walls of Eryx" (which was still a great story). Burroughs wrote the Tarzan stuff at around the same time (20's/30's?), but...
