    Mushroom cloud wallpaper

Hey all, I modified a mushroom cloud wallpaper I found on this site to make it darker and more painterly. I'm using it right now, and thought maybe it might be of interest to some in the Fallout community. Wallpaper - 1280 x 960 Drachton

Creator of "Duck and Cover" dies in hospital

I know Duck and Cover is a regular target of ridicule, but while I agree the tone of the film itself is rather surreal, I'm not convinced the advice given therein is not effectively the best course of action in case of nuclear attack. From The Effects of Nuclear War: Table 3 in this same...

    Creative thinking question

#2 knows his hat color: he sees #3's black hat, and he knows his own hat isn't also black, otherwise #1, seeing two men with black hats in front of him, could tell his own hat was white and say so immediately. Since #1 isn't saying anything, #2 knows his hat must be white.

    Post-Apocalyptic books

TorontRayne, take a look at pamedia's book section, they have a pretty large selection, you should be able to find something you like (follow the links to amazon.com to check the reviews).

    Creative thinking question

Actually those are great. :) I was unaware of the existence of lateral thinking riddles as a separate genre of riddles. The difficulty assessment on this one really blew my mind. ;-)

    Creative thinking question

I have to say, no, but I didn't like yours any better, which is why I tend to agree with those who maintain the riddle is badly constructed. I simply used the most basic knowledge of geometry imaginable, no proofs. There is no such thing as a "rote application of mathematical proofs", and if...

    Creative thinking question

Murdoch: Don't you have to take calculus in your last year of high school, though? Mikey: I see what you mean, but I don't actually have an issue with the SEALs using this question on their test, I simply disagree with Montez that there is one logical answer, and that to come up with anything...

    Creative thinking question

First, I'd argue that ignorance of RBY isn't a deficiency, since we just established it was wrong and of interest only from a historical perspective. Also, from your explanation on page 1: It's commonly known to whom? From my (mathematical) point of view, a circle is a lot more...

    Creative thinking question

No, I'm from Canada. Although I would think art education isn't something that's heavily standardized, so maybe it's up to the individual teachers to decide whether they teach the (apparently) traditonal RBY space. On the other hand, I'm a grad student in an image processing lab, so maybe...

    Creative thinking question

Not really, the so-called RBY color space has been out of use for a long time. From this page: I was taught about the CMY color space in grade school, and even artists nowadays use CMY, so to get the right answer to this question, you basically need to have been taught wrong.
