    Leonard Q&A@Hardwired

Not talking about the whole combat engine (as i said, combat in arcanum sucked), just the system with a turnbased mode an half-turn based mode (or whatever fancy name the had for that) and a realtime mode, only optimized/balanced for turn-based. That way they can tell the publishers that they...

    Leonard Q&A@Hardwired

Re:... I liked the arcanum system (in turn based mode). I mean, it was not like there was any use for turnbased combat in arcanum since combat was imo the most boring aspect of the game (it was totally deviod of any tactics or strategy). but the system looked nice to me, add a grid so you can...

Those stories sound great! I think Fallout shouldnt be drowned in references to groups/events/people in the real world. But i dont think there anything fundamentally wrong with including some if it serves a purposed and is done well. And it sounds like it does/is. Its really sad well never...

    Staying true to Fallout

yes, turn based allows for far more tactical options, so that's a big difference, gameplay-wise. the "trade-off" is that combat will be a lot slower, which is also a big difference

I totally agree, we do not need more "HAR HAR GONNA KILL ALL TEH PEASANTS" evil. but RTS? as in Real Time Strategy? KoTOR? Strategy? i'm definitely missing something here...

    Staying true to Fallout

Interpreting "turn" that way would make every computer game "turn based" and hence would render the term "turn based" obsolete. Simply because a computer (or a programmer) needs to organize its actions (on a basic level) in turns, since a CPU can do only one thing at a time. Hence the actions of...

either that or "<>". but i think only people still crazy enough to still program in Pascal (me) use that one

    Staying true to Fallout

Cant think of any game that did. But i dont think i'd be impossible even with standard FPS controls it'd be possible. Just give every action its own AP cost let every character use their APs one by one turn by turn and you'd be there. There'd sure be problems a-plenty though. First, in most...
