They don't have to do shit, they certainly don't have to consider the views of a bunch of rabid fans. If they have think that their own version of fallout (as opposed to a fan-view based one) will be more profitable, they have all the rights to make their own RTS or even FPS Fallout.

Well it seems that fallout isn't dead afterall? But I was wondering will the studios mentioned in the poll have enough money to buy the license for fallout? Maybe, it could go to some larger studio who will turn fallout into a cash cow? Being pessimistic never hurts and with the gaming...
