If any of these kickstarter projects (Fargo's or Obsidian's) comes out and fully commits to TB combat I'll back it...and back it well. But as far as I'm concerned its: TB or GTFO.
The last time I played FO1 I made a simple "Boy and his Dogmeat mod". I put Dogmeat right outside the vault door so you got him right away and I gave him a few more HP to make him easier to keep him live.
I am using the "Better Pace Mod" that I found on the Nexus. It greatly slows down your XP gain. It does this by increasing your XP gain for discovery of new places and quest solving, and lowers XP gain for killing, lockpicking and computer hacking. I am maybe 60-70% through the game and...
I've been having some fun with this game as a generic PA shooter, but the only time it has ever felt the slightest bit "Fallouty" to me was when I was exploring a particularly isolated area with the camera zoomed all the way out in a "pseudo isometric" view and I could see my character trudging...
As it stands now no.
If the official NMA review and discussion comes up with some positive points, or some substantial mods come out maybe I will reconsider.
That quote was shocking to me, especially from an old-timer who knows RPGs and is a Fallout fan.
I played Oblivion and I was struck by how Bethesda managed to omit, remove, or diminish almost everything I look for in an RPG.

"Oblivion is one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and you just sound silly suggesting otherwise - let alone trying to "divorce" it from the genre, when it's actually one of the best representations of the genre...

When I look at the games that get 10's and then I look at The Witcher and MotB, I know that its pointless to even look mainstream reviews.
I find that a good way to get the feel for a game is to lurk over at the Codex. It involves reading a lot of pointless crap and you really need...
The way I see it is VATS is the only thing keeping this game from playing like an FPS and that has to be a good thing.
I'm not going to play it at all unless it turns out to be a real RPG, but if I do play it anything that cuts down on the "twitch" will be much appreciated.
An FPS style game from the makers of Oblivion seems a pretty unlikely candidate for "Fallout Sequel", and I have seen very little evidence of anything "Fallouty" outside of the evironmental art.
I won't write it off completely, however, until I read some reviews and discussions by fans who...
