Yes, there are some free HL2 and other on steam, is possible, as long as you made those need game installed there. This one do same, adding steam functionalities.

You will need to check map options like teams and other stuff, because that can cause those to not work properly.

Steam hates Game Ranger, will block any incoming connection from it, you should run without steam or move game folder outside steam install dir.
