Well, I got that problem sorted. I am working from the file format description as given with the source code to spr2gif, which seems to have a few inconsistencies. Is there a more up-to-date document somewhere?

I did extract the values as part of the sprite file but something seems to have gone wrong somewhere. Oh well, I'll think on it a bit further.
