my problem is solved, too. i used the wront exe. i tried the falloutw.exe and now the game is runnoing :) yuhuuu *G*

i tried to install fallout 1 on weekend and it was no problem to do it. (I have the newest fallout 1, 2 and (3) compilation) After install i looked in into windows/system32/autoexec.nt to find my soundblaster variables... in the Fallout1 sound install exe there is displayed the information...
