Fallout 4's success feeds my feeling on injustice

My girlfriend bought me Fallout 4 for my birthday and made sure to buy it secondhand so as to not give Bethesda any of our money. I will not be purchasing DLC. I should probably marry her someday.

    Can DLCs save this one?

DLC will probably make it worse, honestly. Can't wait to see DLC where we get to go to space or another country or whatever other garbage Bethesda's likely planning.

Bethesda orders fan to destroy product for refund

So I actually collect vinyl and when you order through mail, getting a damaged product is pretty common, unfortunately. And in my experience, companies always just send a free replacement since even limited editions have overrun. This is silly as hell.

Fallout's transformation by Bethesda - how well-known is it?

I was lucky enough to have played (and loved) the original games before Fallout 3, but to this day I have literally never met another human being who has played them. As far as I know, anyway. EDIT: That is, people who have played them at length. I have a handful of friends I convinced to start...

    The Bethesdafication of Fallout

Some very smart person at Bethesda saw the potential in the burgeoning open world genre and rising popularity of the first person shooter. An established franchise meant less lore writing, and the probability of securing established Fallout fans (which worked), while gaining new fans with the...

    Interested in a Pipboy 2000?

Very interested in purchasing this. Do you have pricing details? With or without paint (I would be able to paint it myself, I love doing that stuff)? EDIT: Nevermind, I see this is an ancient thread. Boo!

    Ideas for Obsidian spin off?

They'll never satisfy everyone. And while I would actually completely embrace the idea of Bethesda releasing their own Post-Apoc shooters with the Fallout name while allowing Obsidian (or people from Obsidian) to release their own New Vegases, I would also settle for a Bethesda Fallout that at...

    Life pre-war

I'm probably in the minority here, but Bethesda games have not actually changed how I pictured the pre-war world of Fallout at all, even back when I was playing Fallout 1 for the first time. I always thought of the Fallout world, pre-War, to be that "World of Tomorrow!" that was such a big hit...

If you had to choose TWO things Fallout 4 did RIGHT, what would they be?

This is the painful part. Bethesda is good at building a physical world but absolutely terrible at putting any depth or flavor into it. I would actually have 0 issue with Bethesda making the next Fallout but hiring competent people to flesh it out and make it a "smart" franchise again. Also I'm...

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

The sad thing is that you're probably right.

Serious Discussion: Why is this series attracting so many idiots?

What's even more confounding to me is that this mindset seems to be leveled at games in particular: as I mentioned before with my writer friend who "just wants to shoot stuff," I also have a very intelligent friend who writes, loves grand stories and even plays D&D, yet complained to no end when...

    Any memorable characters?

I really wanted to like Cait but her story pretty much starts and ends within an hour of meeting her.

It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down.

Your hard-earned money will likely buy this as DLC in the near future.

Serious Discussion: Why is this series attracting so many idiots?

Very good posts, guys. I'm glad this topic attracted legitimate discussion and not shitposting. I agree that it's broadening the demographic that's making it seem like idiots are clinging to the series. And I understand: they're a business and it makes the most sense to get their product...

Serious Discussion: Why is this series attracting so many idiots?

So we've had some discussions (or rather, you have--I've been a lurker for a number of years) about Bethesda's dumbing-down of the series, the focus on shooting, the removal of RPG elements. And it's undoubtedly clear that the series is actually enjoying huge success at the same time--why? The...
