I think the confusion here is coming from the fact that there is no Deathclaw Guantlet in Fallout 2, It's in the 3rd 'game'

You most likely spoke to him too early in the morning, anytime before 0801 he will not barter and will ask you to leave his store. Then when you persisted he changed to hostile. Reload an old savegame.

Have you deleted the /blackisle/fallout2/ folders? Completely erasing all the files is always a good start, also restarting your computer after an uninstall/install has fixed a lot of problems for me in the past. Give it a go, and if that fails, check to make sure Fallout 2 has been deleted...
