Fallout: New Vegas developers quotes round-up

And consequently, any statement about how the majority of gamers feel a certain way about CL is also ridiculous. I never laid claim to representing the majority. My point was it's kinda futile to talk about majority when online communities don't represent the majority. It's one thing to ask a...

Fallout: New Vegas developers quotes round-up

Sorry, but gauging online forums' responses as even a remotely accurate representation of what the populace at large feels about CL is ridiculous. That's what strikes me as "unprofessional." There are those like myself that thought they were okay. And for people like me, I don't care to make...

Fallout: New Vegas patch 1.2 out on Steam

It's a lot easier killing a ranger to get it than going through a bunch of quests. Head shot a ranger with a silenced sniper from far away, and presto--ranger armor. No rep loss or getting aggro'ed from NCR people nearby. I did it on two different occasions so I know it wasn't just a flub.

    JE Sawyer Formsprings #10

Some of the writing in this game is phenomenal. My favorite is the quest line with Chief Hanlon, and the end of it. SO well done.

Fallout: New Vegas outsells Fallout 3, PS3 fix released

Man, 90K PC sales!? That's terrible. It's a miracle they even bother to make it on PC. I wonder if it's because of piracy on PC that sales are lower, or whether to Steam sufficiently safeguards against that. As a PC snob, it makes me a sad panda. Considering I've had to use the console a...

Fallout: New Vegas reviews roundup #5

What about the engine do you feel is at odds with Fallout's philosophy? I'm willing to bet much of the franchise creators would disagree on your assessment of that too. It's a flawed engine, but the flaws are in the bugs and quirks, not necessarily the format.

Fallout: New Vegas reviews roundup #5

Here's the thing, and it's why (dumb) reviewers like Bethesda. Fallout 3 clearly has more striking visuals. Megaton is a lot more aesthetically striking than any town New Vegas has to offer. That said, Bethesda has pretty much been all-fluff, no meat with its games. Megaton looks cool sure...

Fallout: New Vegas Launch Day Reviews

I love this game, and I /boggle that some reviews say this feels the same as FO3, or that FO3 writing is better (lol?) It's what Fallout 3 should have been. It's intangible, but it just feels like something Black Isle would've done. Love the writing and the quests so far. I had one CTD in...

    Fallout: New Vegas first review

Ah, the Xbox 360 didn't even enter my mind, that'd make more sense. Being a PC snob, I think I block out the notion that Fallout even exists on consoles (barring BOS) Still, it's not that hard to take HD video on a 360. Get an HD PVR, line-in to HD PVR, line-out to TV and laptop, and presto...

    Fallout: New Vegas first review

What a retarded review. First off, not only was FO3 his first game, but he thought it had a great story... wow. Secondly, he didn't break embargo, because that'd imply Obsidian actually sent him the game. According to his ridiculous story, a retailer gave him a copy of the game ahead of time...

Fireside Chat: Alpha Protocol reception and New Vegas

You're talking about Dan Hsu, who just spread the accusations around with nothing to back it. Not very professional. [Oh the dirt I have about that...] They weren't direct bribes, as in, "we'll pay you in hookers for a positive review." You could give a game a horrible review in spite of all...

Fireside Chat: Alpha Protocol reception and New Vegas

No, having worked at some of the major gaming pubs, I can say with certainty that they don't get a dime for positive reviews. It's nothing like Clearwater controlling the airwaves and dumping all those crappy pop songs. That said, there's a lot of other factors. First, which I think is the...

Fireside Chat: Alpha Protocol reception and New Vegas

Oof, got a lot of flak for my thoughts on Arcanum :P I tried liking it, I really did. But I felt like I was fighting the game at every step (couldn't stand the UI), and eventually just gave up. Maybe I'll give it another go one of these days. So to sum up Alpha Protocol, seems like it has...

Fireside Chat: Alpha Protocol reception and New Vegas

First off I think people are unnecessarily harsh on FO3. Yes, FO1/2 are much, much better. That said, FO3 was an entertaining game--entertaining enough to play to the end. Not entertaining enough to buy the DLC or play again, but that's more than a lot of games for me. It may not live up to...

Fireside Chat: Alpha Protocol reception and New Vegas

I knew somebody who was in the art team for Obsidian. Each of the shortcomings of games can't be attributed to one central issue. KOTOR2 for example, the main issue was that a) the company just formed b) it needed a short turn-around time or else the company would go under, which lead to a...
