Fallout 4's first beta patch is out

They had opt-in beta patches for Skyrim as well ;-) I don't remember if they ever modified the beta patches before rolling them out for the general public.

    Perception Fallout 4 SPECIAL video

If lack of skills is the largest problem with Fallout 4, I will count myself lucky, and applaud the impressive improvement in writing and world building of the dev team at Bethesda. Adding skills back is likely to be quite a lot of work. Starting with the basic design and balancing, continuing...

Strength the first Fallout 4 SPECIAL video is out

Yeah, most likely a perk tree for each weapon type where each level increases damage. Some may unlock various moves like in Skyrim or work on exotic groups of weapons. The ability to land a hit is likely 90-100% player skill.

Bethesda cannot produce any more Pip-Boys

Well ... Spaceballs also promised Spaceballs II: The Search for More Money, and it looks a lot like Bethesda is moving forward on that.

    Fallout 3 (almost) drops GfWL

Given that it is possible to disable GfWL, e.g. by using this, I think there will be no effect.

Fallout: Nuka Break season 2 out

There are a number of loose ends, so I think that they are planning to try ... maybe even expand a bit?

Mad Nation Season 2 Kickstarter launched

Aw, that sucks! I had suspected that automating take-downs would cause a lot of headaches for content contributors, but I haven't heard much about it, so I figured that their system was pretty good. Seems I figured wrong. Thanks for the link. I like what I have seen so far, so I've backed it...

Mad Nation Season 2 Kickstarter launched

I can't seem to find more than a handful of episodes on youtube. Am I going blind or have they been moved somewhere else?

    Fallout 3 writing editorial

Because an engrossing story and a well thought out setting go hand in hand. Considering how the creatures inhabiting your world gets their basic needs (food, clothes, shelter) covered will often give some good ideas for the dynamics and conflicts of your world. This, in turn, gives a number...

    NMA Opening Analysis: Fallout

I remember taking ages to figure out that cities had multiple areas. Oh, how much started making sense when you could visit the entire city! On the topic of the silly/annoying tutorials plaguing modern CRPGs, it continues to baffle me that most games do not include a way to sidestep the...

Rude awakening: Why Fallout: New Vegas felt incomplete

It is fully possible for a first level character to take the back road and get to New Vegas, skipping right to the showdown with Benny. The player is not pointed in that direction, but it is a very visible road from Goodspings. Only difficult part is getting past the group of Cazadores, but the...

J.E. Sawyer's five hard lessons on RPG design

Interesting article. In may ways, I can't help to agree with Sawyer. But there is a but coming ... And yet they did not get rid of the Energy Weapons skill while they were at it. It would have made a lot more sense and removed the need to nerf energy weapons to the point where 1900s weapons...
