Why do people hate Old World Blues?

OWB made me laugh out loud too, especially at first, and the humour is the right kind, but eventually I just really wanted to leave. A lot of it is walking, shooting immortal fucking scorpions and boring fetch quests and there isn't enough gravity to anything for me to care. The twist didn't...

A point against the House ending.

On top of everything else everyone's said here I always assumed the assassins were a way to try and sabotage you in the struggle for control over the Mojave more than anything else. Once House has full control there's not really any point, plus the NCR and Legion militaries are gonna have to...

Another Permadeath Run: The Cannibal (Melee Weapons)

Seems like a fun challenge. I was impressed enough when you handled those gunners, before you killed a deathclaw in 4 hits. A Bethesda classic

Is Obsidian actually full of different people now?

That's an International Women's Day post. This is the dev team that showed up to Game Awards 2019 60% men.

    Fallout TV Series Begins Production

How do you even MAKE a film based on the BGS Fallouts? It's a world that only goes as deep as the retrofuture skins it puts on gunfights and inherently fucks any deeper narrative you try to put in it as a result. I'm genuinely interested how they'll pull anything from the material they're given.

What Will Fallout 76's Failures Mean for Fallout 5?

My bet is by the time FO5 comes out the industry'll be so fucked 76 will be well above standard.

Benny should have been the final Boss

So the only reason you would do anything in an RPG is if the game explicitly tells you that someone personally harmed or will harm you or your home? You don't think about your character's motivations, character, background? I mean... you know you can just not play, right? The game is about your...

Fallout 4 Is Better Than You Think

...well yeah, because it's a city run by crime families? Boston is just a wasteland. What I meant by that is the Triggermen are clearly meant to be New England mafiosi jammed into the world from 50s tropes, I'm pretty sure that's even meant to be their "origin story" from all the ghoul members.

Fallout 4 Is Better Than You Think

I can agree with the rest and what you're saying makes sense, but I think you're making a mistake conflating the settings of FO4 and the FOB. Fallout is set in a retrofuturist world. It takes (how the people of the 90s saw) how the people of the 50s saw the future, sets that as the cultural and...

Does anyone else realize how stupid Arthur Maxson being sent East Coast is?

Consistency is very important when worldbuilding. If you establish major lore in a universe, and then drop that major lore just because, people WILL stop giving a shit about your lore, because clearly there's no point learning it when it can get switched off overnight. Can Bethesda decide that...

Does anyone else realize how stupid Arthur Maxson being sent East Coast is?

To use an existing train track, you need to already control the entire length of the route to make sure it's intact and clear. Otherwise, the train will at best be blocked, worse end up derailed, even worse catastrophically derail, and worst of all, crash. Rail lines degrade extremely quickly...

Why couldn't House just write a new update code for his army?

House designed the chip (apparently) but I'd assume he didn't literally write the entire OS. More likely he laid out the outlines and the programming was done at an industrial scale. Operating systems today take thousands of workers to write, let alone whatever House needed, and I don't think...

Fallout 4 doesn't feel like New Vegas

Building isn't necessarily a bad thing. I would've loved to set up a campfire or a chair and some RP decor in some of New Vegas' player-home-ish locations. Hell, FO4 lends itself really well to a building system - there are a lot of little nooks and crannies in Boston, like blasted-through...

Things we learned from Fallout 4

My advice for FO4 is, definitely play it once. Throw in any mods you like the look of and just try to enjoy it. Especially if you can get it for some absurdly cheap price (I got the GOTY edition off some shifty key site for £6). It's worth experiencing. Then, play New Vegas. Seriously. Have fun!
