But Arcanum is an "exception" game. All Troika games are "exception" games.

fish you are the fucking worst. UnderRail sucks and Atom is better. You need to learn to stop reading everything because nobody makes you talk to every person on the planet if you do not enjoy it. Truly missing out. Shame.
Atom is a shit game, but it's ok to like shit games. I like Arcanum and Dead State and they're really fucken bad. :>

Atom is not a shit game though it just has badly translated writing at times which is not the case with Trudograd. You asked for locations to pop well you did not make it to Dead City and you gave up on crafting when it is pretty fucking useful. Sounds like you want goofy wild wasteland nonsense like UnderRail and Fallout has which i understand but maybe you did not get to the hivemind yet and likely never will.

The combat is JUST LIKE FALLOUT so not sure what the deal is there. Maybe you did not learn how to make molotovs.

Actually it is better because you have more control but not gonna hammer on you clearly did not like the setting or the writing and that will not change.
Fallout's combat got interesting art design, pacing and most importantly cool death animations. Atom lacks that.
Crafting in games is always awful to me. it is always a few notches below the quality of the rest of the game so if I dislike the rest of the game then I really can't stand the crafting.
And I mean, I don't buy into the whole "it gets better", if you play a game for 1 hour and it doesn't grab you then I think it's perfectly reasonable to just ditch it. And the game is just a slog to me. Quests are uninteresting. Too many useless characters. Too much writing and since I don't know which dialogue choice will lead to more quests or events or rewards I'll have to pick them all to make sure.
Combat is like Fallout, but less, and Fallout is a really old game. I make concessions to older games because they are old after all but a newer game should have improved. And it doesn't seem like Atom even tried to.
I also dislike the fact that when you go and pick stuff up there is this annoying "picking up" animation and with how much useless stuff to loot that adds up and gets really tedious to have to sit through. So if the game "gets better later" then ok, how long do I have to suffer through this exactly?
I think I played Arcanum for about the same amount of time to get to the point of "hey, I actually DO like it", but it didn't happen with Atom. I was done with the farm, went down to the plane wreckage on the map and before I went inside I just sighed, cause I knew that there was gonna be more of the same. And I just didn't care for it.
A game needs something to hook the player and with Atom I'm just not hooked. The storyline? Practically forgot it. Setting? Dull. Characters? Too many, any good one is ruined by 5 uninteresting ones. Combat? It's like Fallout but less, and Fallout's combat isn't exactly good. Crafting? Yawn. Lore? A bunch of folklore that sounds interesting but is never played out.

I honestly think your autism is fucking with you because the reactivity is where this game shines I feel like you giving up at Dan's place means dude you have not even played the game like no combat encounters that matter at all.

Yes there are lots of useless characters because you are investigating something and many things will not point you in the right direction. You have not given the game a serious try due to backlog so your opinion should be ignored since other people might enjoy the game since it is good.
Arcanum is a terrible game but it managed to hook me. Despite all of its flaws I still 'wanted' to keep on playing it. Even when I was questing if I wanted to keep on playing it and went over in my head all the negative stuff I still just kept on playing it because on some level I wanted to. This doesn't happen with Atom for me.

Atom RPG is the most Fallout-like RPG we have gotten period for better or worse. They just made a Russian Fallout. Did I love the story? No but I enjoyed the game and the companions and the overall plot.
And I don't need things to be wacky. :v
Chernobylite isn't wacky but it has a lot of things that "pop" in it. To make it interesting. There is such a thing as being 'too' down to earth. Atom isn't fun because nothing really pops. No factions, no towns, few characters but they're ruined by all the meh ones, no animals, weapons, environments, lore, backstory, world design. It's just all... Dull to me.
