Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

So.... AKs would have been tried in the 50's regardless of how secret they were kept; considering how many AK clones appeared during that time in many nations, china for instance had its type-56 rifles which were a direct copy of the AK. Besides, US soldiers would have been trained to fire...

    Prototype Problem.

Yes, that's exactly what dude_obj means. You have to create these folders under the fallout/data/ folder.

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

I don't see the resemblance. The receiver looks kind of like an AK with a PK style butt. However its missing the typical upper gas piston on top of the barrel which is present in most Kalashnikov designs.

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

Fallout_expert105: like wraith UV pointed, I was referring to the 5mm Remington centrefire, not the .223. Silencer: I have already said the 5mm round in the game was made up, just like the rifle, miniguns, and other weapons. And the US army would have purchased AKs to testfire them in...

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

Ok why would you make an assault rifle that fires a 5x26mm 36gr bullets? what are you trying to kill, cockroaches? This is a varmint round, not even suitable as a hunting round unless your hunting wabbits. So explain to me, what is .223 NATO ammo doing there? Just some facts...

Supreme Court says no killing teens!

Sorry, but I think most of these juvenile crims are well aware of their actions; the fact that they are excused on account of being immature just makes them feel that they can do whatever they want and get away with it. IMO, there should be no excuses; juveniles should get the same treatment...

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

Still that doesn't work, and if it was a US rifle it would fire 5.56x45mm aka .223 NATO, not 5mm. Ask any US army ordinance expert and they'll tell you the same thing.

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

Given that there is no M-16 in the FO1 or 2, then it would stand to reason that the AK-112 was intended to be the army standard rifle, even if obsolete. Or are you going to tell me they were using FALs, or G11s now? The 5mm round in FO was made up, just like the AK-112. my guess is they...

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

Well, if that was the case they would have used a local designation for it like AR-112 or M-112, and the AK-112 is 5mm, not 5.56x45mm (.223) Don't take this the wrong way, not trying to have a go at you or lure you into any trap, but the reason why they did it is because they obviously don't...

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

So tell me, why did they call their assault rifle the AK-112. What are US forces doing with a foreign rifle design that is obviously Russian made?

Fallout's Assault Rifle (split from Tactics mod thread)

I agree about the weapon not using 7.62NATO, but why would you not fix it to use its appropriate ammo (7.62x39mm), is it not fallouty enough? If that is the case, how is a post-WWII weapon which has been produced since 1947 (hence its name: Avtomat Kalashnikov-47) and become the most popular...

    Adding new weapon sounds

In the magnum range, I have R/L sounds for .357, .44 Magnums and .50 Action Express; if you mean for a .45 Long Colt Peacemaker type revolver, I don't have a R/L sound effect, but I could mix one from existing sounds from my library.

    Armed Critters

That's true, but we have got around this problem by editing any weapon prototypes that uses new calibers on a hex editor.

    Armed Critters

You can add more caliber entries on the table though it may not be necessary at all. If you look at the end of caliber types, between the last entry and the first entry for Race Types there is a big gap; you can fill it all the way, giving you a total of 31 different caliber types you could add.

Real world map of Fallout game area?

They may have intended it to be Klamath Falls, but if you look at the top left of the map, you'll see it matches with the Northern California border and Oregon is not there. It certainly looks like they did a good job researching the locations they put in the game.
