Imagination - The cornerstone of Fallout's Universe.

OK rant man, FOblivion is a nice shooter set in a Fallout world. The atmosphere part is ok.The RPG part isnt there.

    Gripes about the writing

so true. I almost felt insulted by that crap ;/ the dialogue options are pretty low overall the quests are not so well made -- in the majority of the quests there is no conflict, no side to pick, no consequences. I dont understand how Beth writers could miss all that

One way to actually kill the children

yeah this unkillable NPC/kids bullshit needs a real mod, ini change is not much use wouldnt it be much more moral-correct if you COULD kill the children, but would face a mighty penulty and everyone would hate you? another missed feature dumb bethesda :(

Time to bump up the difficulty, I guess

normal mutants are weak brutes and masters are tougher, but still by not much I think overall the combat is easy, you can die only from explosives (rl or car explosion nearby - deadly)

Comprehension is a Pretty Useful Perk in FO3

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

The sad thing is, there is not much else :( And I fully agree that the overall interface stuffed into a small PIPboy window under several layers is horrible. Screams 'made for console'. Where is a hotkey for maps? And I miss the item pictures and descriptions too

Speech Challange makes CHARISMA almost useless?

from my experience charisma is only usefull on some key quest NPCs to convince them - like 3dog and "the family" leader

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

Another small improvement that comes to my mind : the use of tripmines - place some on the way and lure the dumb AIs. That adds some strategy to the combat. I killed 5 mutant brutes that way not losing any health. But I dont even have high "explosives" skill (30) and the mines still do...

Inon Zur's Music in the Retail Release

uhgh. Most music is bad/mediocre. its much worse than Mark Morgans` I ended up replacing 80% with fo1/2 music as well. But that doesnt help that music is situatoin-based, while original games had location-based music which created better atmosphere and sense of place

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

Good topic (and please dont kill it with flame) Hard to think of many not related to technology advances... Nice intro/tutorial level - vault 101. Good start for noobs and not tedious/long (like many game tutorials are) Repair skill on items - good implementation - however, not used much...
