    Fallout 4 New San Francisco

I really don't think a 3D open world, with current tech, does any justice to locations we saw in previous games. We would just see through the abstractions in a more obvious way, so immersion wise I think it would be just as disappointing as 3 and NV were in that aspect. Having said this, I...

Fallout 4 - Why Details Matter

@fred2 is right that the particular feature of paying attention to visual details enriches the gameplay. The problem is that it seems like that's their only focus, and that they are dumbing down everything else, and that won't be balanced by a few visual effects and different walls and what not...

    Cities Surviving Multiple ICBMs?

I'm not sure if the video is to be considered an argument for the previous statement, but if that's so, you should keep in mind that 10MT explosion has nothing to do with nuclear weapons. Chernobyl was a reactor, not a weapon factory.

    Weird enemies in mission one

Hi, I've just started playing Fallout Tactics, with Endocore's FOT Redux mod. Near the end of mission one, in Brahmin Woods, I've got the following issue. Note, I am not sure it is a bug, but if it isn't I'll need advice anyway. In Horus' HQ, I noticed there was a sniper on the roof and a stair...

I played Fallout 3, I thought it was okay.

I don't know what you expect. Sounds like obvious trolling to me. I mean, you come to a forum that, deserved or not, has a fame for hating Fallout 3 fans. So, you just pretty much register to go on with the tale that we're all going to roast you because you thought Fallout 3 is OK. The reality...

Is there a patch for Fallout that restores the timers, and water merchant caravan.

Yes, I noticed you've been here forever, that's what made it specially weird for me to see it in the wrong subforum. FIXT gives you the option, and you can even set it to different multipliers of the original ones. My last playthrough I enabled invasions, but with way longer times (8x, I...

Skills in Fallout 4: What We Know

"More variety". Todd said there are around 170 perks. These perks are capped by your level in a given stat. There are 7 stats, 10 levels per stat. With 70 "units" to call them some way, we have only 170 possibilities to choose from? That's around 2.5 per level per stat. This doesn't sound like...

Is there a patch for Fallout that restores the timers, and water merchant caravan.

Fallout FIXT, and I don't understand why you posted it in future fallout games... Also, I don't understand what you mean by the water merchants having no point, the countdown for your vault to run out of water still works, and buying from the water merchants still buys you 100 days...

They took that green filter out and they pat themselves in the back.

    Spawning Dogmeat?

@leomorg, that must have been the best answer I've seen in a long time.

Fallout 4: Does anyone else find the pre-war opening contrived?

Being an RPG doesn't take the responsibility of explaining the story away. If you get an experienced courier who wandered the wastes a lot and it's unskilled, you gotta wonder how is it that he survived for that long. Brain damage is a nice explanation. Being sheltered, which applies to Fallout...

Fallout 4: Does anyone else find the pre-war opening contrived?

I understood you, but I think you missed the joke: it didn't make it to the final version of *Interplay's* Fallout 3, because there was none :p

Skills in Fallout 4: What We Know

I think the problem is everyone wants to become GTA. GTA is fun, yes, but it's far from being the only way to have fun, or even the best one. It's great to kill time murdering civilians with little to no consequence, but, you know, I like the missions better even while playing GTA, I don't want...

Seriously, that piece of "you can shoot them while you're talking to them" sounds aimed to a dysfunctional ADHD sufferer.

Skills in Fallout 4: What We Know

It depends. Does giving it faster come with detriment in quality? If the answer is no, then there is no reason not to make it fast. I don't like the dialog wheel, because I don't think it's justified. I'm just saying having lists of lists and other variants is not necessarily crappy design.

Is anyone else excited for Fallout 4?

I'm pretty much in the same boat as PossibleCabbage. I am excited because I see Fallout 4 as The Sims with guns, as most of the new things that I find to be of interest (I'm not crazy about graphics and cutscenes, voices and what not) are related to building settlements and such. I love The...

Skills in Fallout 4: What We Know

I am fully aware that practicality is not always the only concern in design choices. I only stated I find them practical. I don't see that as a necessarily good or bad choice, but it's certainly its pro, for big lists, maybe encapsulating them in lists that represent categories, for example...
