    I have to admit, this was my initial reaction as well. The examples given here are kind of reassuring, but it's hard to shake the feeling that designers who get paid fat amounts of insane cash should be able to just look/make these things up as needed.

    Level drain worked in BG2 because like some other stuff in the game, it pulled ideas from D&D3 (you kept earning xp, so once you could cast Restoration it was as if nothing had happened). In the old gold box games, at best you lost your progress on your current level, and I can't even remember...
