The further removed from genuine fallouts the better imo.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines Fallout 4 interview

You know, I have to say I like the Bethesda style of games. I like the 3rd/fps open world etc... I'm just looking forward to the day when a more competent development team can actually make an interesting game out of it (besides black isle, of course).

Everyone keeps saying westworld like that's supposed to be some meaningful insult. I have no idea what they're trying to say though.

Same reason call of duties are succesful. They are simple button mashers that are fun for the masses. Most people would rather watch honey boo boo than Shakespeare.

Robots aren't the same as androids. This is from 1963 but it's close to the same era, and quite similar to the Harkness plot in 3. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/60/In_His_Image%28The_Twilight_Zone%29.jpg Also you're only using 50's films, as apposed to books. I don't remember...

Also a big one you didn't mention: radiation resistance.

It's just your opinion that androids don't fit the retro-futuristic world of Fallout. There were stories about androids in the fifties, so in my opinion it's potentially perfectly fitting in fallout games. Now that's not to say that they do fit based on the context of the story, for example...

Why did the scientists in big mt make all the dumb stuff they did? Scientists more often than not do science for science sake rather than only for practical value.

So, we have the pip-boy insofar as pre-apocalyptic technology, and then there's two hundred years of technology after the apocalypse, assuming the institute has somehow been running for all that time (not such a leap considering vaults and whatnot). I don't get the big deal about androids...

Yeah, I could be wrong but I doubt there's that much of a price difference in what we would consider a master writer and whoever they've got working for them now.

Only problem I have with this is I really don't think you can buy a better story, or better game design in general. FWIW it worked insomuch as a buzz-generating device.

Fallout Shelter out now on Android

Good point about VM:BL, except of course that's not the type of game bethesda makes, so obviously I'm talking open world fps -- which even including fast travel has a fuck ton of monotonous dungeon crawling nonsense and hiking simulation. I thought about the cost difference of a mobile game and...

    General Discussion Thread of DOOM

I know that this is no talk directly related to fallout, but just came across this and didn't want to make a thread. Someone made a F:NV monopoly set, and it actually looks pretty good. http://imgur.com/gallery/qYVv3

3p iso style is a better story delivery system. It cuts down on a lot of the monotony, like hiking simulation and random FPS encounters, and kind of just gets you focused on the story and the world. Being story-centric is also why I said give it to obsidian, but even then, New Vegas was great...

Fallout Shelter out now on Android

Kind of bugs me that Beth can make this shit, but can't contract obsidian to make a top down iso. I'm sure a pay to play phone game is probably ultimately more profitable, but I a new real fallout could be made for only a few mil and will at the least be a moderate success.
