JE Sawyer on guns & gender

I personally preferred lumping all guns into a "Marksmanship" or simply "guns" skill, including energy weapons. I believe JES wanted to go that route with VB. Big guns would have strength and possibly endurance requirements. Energy weapons would be limited by rarity, cost of ammo, and perhaps...

What would your perfect Fallout game be?

And 10 years later, you look back and despair over spending $1200 on a stupid game. Kidding, I get you.

Fallout: New Vegas Set to Feature Transphobia?

Fallout one of the best game franchise revivals

The profitability of X-Com probably will have little to do with the previous games.

Mom's in The Den, Out of Business

    I can't remember that happening. But I haven't played vanilla FO2 in 10 years.

Fallout one of the best game franchise revivals

Why isn't it a good franchise revival? It successfully revived the franchise, did it not? So what, the first new installment wasn't the best. The important thing is, now we are assured more Fallout games, and it's not a foregone conclusion that they will suck. If New Vegas knocks everyone's...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Downloaded and extracted the 2.02e update. The menu screen version # did not change, and now the game crashes when I try to load a save. If I try to start a new game, it just sits at a black screen. I'm on Windows 7, which I'm no expert with, so it might be something I'm doing wrong.

Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Repeated CTD when confronting Francis in Broken Hills about the note found in the tunnels. The dialog choice it crashes on is "It'll have to" when he asks if that satisfies my sense of justice. If I say I'm going to kill him now, it seems to start a humans vs mutants battle. I can't remember...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Possibly a small bug... At the Abbey, when you escort the Tragic player (Jason I think) to Gecko, he disappears. Also, If you don't leave right away, he gets taken off of the Abbey map (easy enough to explain of course...he just up and left on his own.) Another thing maybe worth...

Fallout 2 Restoration Project 2.0 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Feel free to ignore this one as it may be an old issue or one that is not worthy of your attention: When I save during combat mode and load, it gets all wonky when I continue. All the turns but mine appear to be simultaneous, and no combat messages appear in the message window. I don't...

What would your perfect Fallout game be?

Yeah but he didn't ask what the perfect NEXT Fallout game would be. ;) As for VB I would have crapped myself with joy had it been released but I have to admit I was quite let down when I learned of the plot. ANOTHER attempt to cleanse the wastes?

    GameSetWatch Columnist Critiques F3 Storytelling

One does not pass up an opportunity to complain about Fallout 3, though.

A few more Fallout: New Vegas previews

It means I think it's a crap system. Being dropped 5 squares to the left of a mob of raiders is not a great deal more enjoyable than being dropped right in the middle of them. Not sure why it matters. The point is, the random encounter system could greatly benefit from some additional...

What if the Enclave was a Social Experiment as well?

Re: What if the Enclave was revealed to be an experiment? I like the basic idea, it's a good way to keep things interesting moving forward. To be honest I didn't think the "vault experiment" revelation was all that well thought out. First, this was the end of the freaking world here. I...

A few more Fallout: New Vegas previews

Random encounters were terribly implemented in the first games, I've decided. With a little thought they could have been a lot of fun, but plopping you down in the middle of the map in the middle of a group of baddies is just stupid. If only you started out on one side of the map and had to...
