Bethesda: "No one can match us"

Wow, this is a shrill thread. I would much rather have them spend their time and money refining the base game that is there, rather than starting from scratch with a new engine. Unless of course someone can finally develop something where you can shoot through flimsy walls and smash...

    I hate "War Never Changes".

    That's life I guess.

    I hate "War Never Changes".

I think it's safe to say it made perfect sense in the true Fallout games, but it was completely stupid in Fallout 3, like pretty much everything!

    Should i buy fallout 3?

I think the mainstream reviews are more in line with how most would feel about the game than the general opinion of this forum.

I use XFO and check the ones I want. I don't really care about a million new guns or monsters. I didn't want a radically different experience, just more of a "fixed" one. http://home.comcast.net/~xodarap777/XFO/XFO_Readme_Current.html From the XFO list, I would recommend checking...

Are there any survival or... more hostile mods out there?

I use XFO. It doesn't remove the NPCs but it is a much more hostile environment, depending on what mods you select. I cheer when I find a stimpack, for example. And then I don't use it because it is too valuable.

I've been playing with XFO a bit. I can say the settings I have make the game substantially more difficult. Particularly the slow pacing (affecting experience gained), enemy rebalance, weapon accuracy, rarities, and necessities. The slow pacing is really a kick in the pants. It takes forever...

    First Time You Played Fallout...

I kicked it old skool. I got the demo with a PC Gamer magazine in 1997. The demo was one screen of Junktown, (the entry area), but it wasn't called Junktown, had all different characters and items. I think there was a short quest or two. It pretty much had everything I ever wanted in a...

Fine, I'll post it: ZeniMax buys id Software

    Doom 3 was excellent.

    Rumour: Wasteland 2?

The original was squad-based, and the little I played of it was pretty heavy on the combat.

From the director of Independence Day...2012

There is no longer a difference between the two, I sometimes think... Anyway, this movie looks like it will be typical formulaic disaster movie shit, but the effects look nice.

Vote for your top 5 changes from fallout 3 to new vegas

Ignoring things like "better story!" (I'm sure they will try to have a good story)... 1. Fewer, larger settlements 2. VATS not so easy 3. Less damn wildlife 4. Work on impact of skills 5. Less of the usual suspects (BOS, SuperMutants, etc) Not in any real order. Aesthetic stuff I...

    I hate "War Never Changes".

I guess "some things about war never change" doesn't have the same ring to it.

    Rumour: Wasteland 2?

It would presumably be squad based, which would differentiate it. I'd be happy with a better version of Fallout Tactics. It didn't gain anything by being set in the Fallout universe, but fighting in the ruined landscape was still fun. Concede the style contest to Fallout and just make a...

Three things I honestly don't get in Fallout 3.

I think so. There is a lot of game to play. If you hate it, you should have a good time coming here to air your grievances. To address your points: 1. VATS is okay but it makes combat incredibly easy. I find the game much more fun without using it. 2. A stupid plot point I agree. It's...

    Rumour: Wasteland 2?

I guess it depends if you're in it for the nostalgia or not.

Are we better prepared for the future (wasteland) ?

People who play video games will finally get the girls after the apocalypse.

    I hate "War Never Changes".

Indeed I do. It was fine in the original Fallout intro. But it was a very poor choice to make it a recurring trope. For one, the game is not about the war. Who cares about the war? It's a plot device. Second, war sure as shit does change, as evidenced by the freaking wasteland we see...

Kotaku studied Fallout, Physics and Beer

The first time through, I didn't mind not having to worry about it since I was playing more for the story and discovery aspects (such as they are) than the gameplay. Same with the previous games - I appreciated being able to carry 100 stimpacks with no penalty. But when replaying, I wish I...
