    Ideas for new Fallout threats

I somewhat agree with Grimhound, but I think there is a lot of gas left in the tank. It's kind of a tricky situation. Thinking back, bumping FO2 up 80 years was a mistake, in my opinion. But, I give them credit for moving on from the two biggest pillars of the Fallout world, the BOS and...

    How would you do SPECIAL?

Energy Weapons What is the skill, exactly? Is shooting a laser pistol different in some way that a 10mm? Is shooting a laser gatling more similar to a plasma pistol than a minigun? I have a hard time accepting that. They need to explain why the skill is seperate, otherwise, just put the...

    How would you do SPECIAL?

Obviously excellence would throw the balance off, in favor of excellent characters. Such is the cost of excellence.

    How would you do SPECIAL?

SPECIALED Strength Perception Endurance Charisma Intelligence Agility Luck Excellence Dexterity A point in Excellence raises all other stats by 2.

Why do so many people here think First Person excludes RPG?

Hey! I like strategy games AND girls! Anyway, I'm sure this has been said many times, but all games are RPG's if you want to get down to it. In the insane human desire to categorize everything, we say RPG's must have stats and levelling up. So I guess that's what I see as an RPG. If...

Fallout 4- doesn't have to be incremental, chronologically

Right, and that's important to keep in mind if they wish to keep the games chonological. You can easily come up with a reason why an area was not repopulated until relatively recently, thus explaining the lack of development.

    How would you do SPECIAL?

SPECIAL is fine, if you ask me. Why change it? Anything else you come up with will just be another arbitrary stat system, and Fallout, with the exception of Tactics, has worked well with this one so far. I would much sooner change the skills. I liked where VB was headed. You bring up a...

    Ideas for new Fallout threats

My problem with VB's plot is that it's just another cleansing the wastes thing. With a virus, no less. I'm sure in execution it would have fine on on paper it's a bit underwhelming. How do people feel about aliens? I don't really care for the idea, as little green men don't fit despite...

    Ideas for new Fallout threats

It would be an interesting twist. You spend the game pursuing some incredible threat that turns out to be you.

    Raven Rock

I liked the look of Raven Rock, but I agree that there wasn't enough of it, and leaving the player to shoot stuff and talk to a computer didn't help anything. The suicide talk was, in my opinion, the worst design decision of the game. No more suicide talks.

    Ideas for new Fallout threats

I've never been there in the game, actually. I was just thinking of androids in general. Sorry about that. But it did lead me the following thought...an android with FEV. It radically alters the AI. It would be interesting if the player could only manage a small victory in the best case...

    Ideas for new Fallout threats

That would be fun. The robot caveat for me is that they are pretty boring, but if they act like people, well, that's negated. What would their motive be? Why do they want to replace humans? The idea of getting rid of humans because we are too dangerous might work. After all, when we...

Why do so many people here think First Person excludes RPG?

Lockpicking is too easy, but I don't know if I'd want it to be difficult. Hacking makes you think and I find I don't like that. :D

FO3 encounter; did this happen to anyone else?

It's not hard to believe that raiders would be able to use scavenged power armor. Why would the player character be more knowledgeable about that?

What's with Advanced Power Armor MKII in Fo3?

I thought the midwestern armor looked more like the Enclave armor, with the bug head. The FO3 armor had a more traditional helmet. None of the armor looked as bulky I didn't think.

Fallout 2 & 3 side by side comparison

It's not that simple. Look at the fall of Rome. Western civilization was reduced to feudalism for 1000 years. And that's without nuclear bombs and mutated monsters. It's hard to say what would really happen. You have complete destruction of all population centers, which would totally destroy...

Fallout 2 & 3 side by side comparison

Man's still gotta eat! There were chicken farms in Warcraft! They could AT LEAST have put "rat meat" on the rat corpses. I'm not talking about 5 of something costing less than 10 of something. I'm saying there is no demand outside of what YOU need to shoot people in the eyeballs, and...

Fallout 4- doesn't have to be incremental, chronologically

I don't really care about the wooden buildings, it's just fun to discuss. I actually think they are a nice effect on the landscape. Judging from old farmhouses around here (in Iowa), they will typically stand until someone tears them down. I'm sure I've seen houses that have been derelict...

Are games art? Well, Fallout 3 is getting there

I've played most of the Infocom games (don't ask if I've finished them! ) but AMFV was too daunting. I tried it when I was a young dude and it seemed so brutally hard I never came back to it.

Fallout 2 & 3 side by side comparison

Planescape Torment has no farms! Ergo, it sucks. The other Fallout games do not have a realistic economy! How do you figure they do? Because you can work on a caravan? Everything has a set value. No one buys anything but your character. No one uses anything but your character. If you use up...
