Fallout 2 & 3 side by side comparison

That is definitely true. I managed to hit almost every area in Fallout 2 just by following the main quest, but I missed the vast majority in Fallout 3. When I play, I try to act in realistic way. That is, if I think the fate of the world is hanging in the balance, I'm not going to go explore...

Fallout 4- doesn't have to be incremental, chronologically

Have you played Fallout 3? The buildings ARE rubble. Settlements are pieced together from scraps. There isn't canned food and guns "laying around". The food you find has been scavenged from somewhere. As for farms, it would make no sense to have a farm so near DC, which is a hive of...

    Weapon Recommendations Thread: Firearms

Gotta love the hunting rifle. I've only had limited use of it, but the laser rifle seems to be very good. Marching into Paradise Falls blasting Eugene was bliss.

Shouldn't radiation threats be high? (at least in FO3)

From what I've read, dying of rad poisoning would not a fun gaming experience. Or real experience!

Bethesda Vs. Black Isle: Sex, Brats, And Addiction

Also, the knock-knock and robot jokes in FO3 are supposed to be stupid. What's wrong with that? I got a chuckle out of it. I don't remember it in the game though.

Bethesda Vs. Black Isle: Sex, Brats, And Addiction

You've successfully proven that none of the games are funny.

Bethesda Vs. Black Isle: Sex, Brats, And Addiction

Vault City having all those water chips, and Vault 13 having all those GECKS was funny. Saying "Booze, Wooz" made me chuckle

Bethesda Vs. Black Isle: Sex, Brats, And Addiction

I don't thing being funny was ever a goal in Fallout. The gaming press made a big deal about the "black humor" when attempting to describe the atmosphere, and it stuck. The FO2 team decided that was a strength of the original and tried to amp up the funny. I don't think they succeeded, but...

Hell is not frozen yet! (Diablo 3)

Man, I was hooked on the first game. Just pure mindless fun. The second I mostly played to see the next cutscene, which are still fantastic. Those blowdart fetish things. Most annoying thing in a game, ever.

    What's your GOTY?

EU3 In Nomine, Fallout 3, Baseball Mogul 2009 are about all I played in 2008. All great fun. Bioshock and Half-Life 2 Ep. 2 may have made the cut, I can't remember if I played them last year or this year though.

Bethesda Vs. Black Isle: Sex, Brats, And Addiction

The pipboy cartoons are funny. In FO2 the bad humor outweighed the good. Ha ha talking plant. Ha ha I lost to a Radscorpion in chess. Ha ha Tandi is a ghoul.

I think Fallout 3 is better than Fallout 2

But don't people still mod Oblivion? Why would you want such a terrible company to help mod anyway? They'd just screw it up.

    50's atmosphere - Why?

Ugh. Thanks for turning this into another Fallout 3 bashing thread. As if there aren't enough of those around.

    50's atmosphere - Why?

No depth to my idea. Pshaw. Cold War intrigue, man. We were never closer to nuclear war. Clandestine science experiments. Employing Nazi war criminals. Spies. Berlin Wall. The red scare. Good stuff.

    50's atmosphere - Why?

Not sure what you mean. Fallout 3 shares the same history as the other two. You prefer the current canon, that's fine. I have no problem with it, I just think it would have been more sensible, given the artistic goal of the game, if they actually did cut civilization off in the early 60's...

    50's atmosphere - Why?

I think they actually should have had the nuclear war in the early 60's. The Cuban Missile Crisis took a different turn or something. There could still be vaults, but they were unknown to the general public (to explain why no one ever talked about vaults in the real world, natch). But there...

    Planescape: Torment

His problem is, he couldn't make The Nameless One a dwarf, and he couldn't name him Gimli.

Why do so many people hate the Shi/Hubologists?

New Reno works as a post-apocalypse city, just not really one you'd expect in Fallout. And like you said, it's a fun place. SF doesn't work as anything. The tanker was kind of a WTF moment for me. The one working ship on the west coast is a friggin' billion ton oil tanker? The thing's...

Shouldn't radiation threats be high? (at least in FO3)

Would it make it more enjoyable if it really did hurt you? Would it even be more realistic? This is 200 years later, after all. Just pretend you have to eat and drink, then you'll take in a boatload more rads.
