I tend to ignore Achievements. Kinda like them in L4D tho. I don't know what they are, but when i get one, it's a nice feeling. My first contact with Achievements was in WoW and most of those are just beyond stupid.

first guess would be to try out the compatibilty-options for older OS. (in properties of the fallout.exe) Those old games seem to have problems with WinXP
