    New developer diary at Bethesda

They're called the Brotherhood of Steel, except they're not like the Brotherhood of Steel. They're called supermutants, except they're not like supermutants. It's called Fallout, except it's not like Fallout. *sigh* ...I'm beginning to see a pattern here. I'd rather not, though.

A fan interview of Fallout 3

"I saw a fucking mudcrab today." "Horrible creatures, screw 'em." *sigh* I still don't get how they manage to fail this much in terms of lore when they're supposedly trying to stay true to the originals. It seems... humanly impossible.

    Happy Holidays from Bethesda

The Mass Effect ones are funny, in a "haha yes we know it's a shitty action-movie wannabe that's so bad it's good" way. An EXTREME holiday season? References to blue tits (of the asari kind)? Seems like self-parody to me.

    Happy Holidays from Bethesda

Haha, oh wow. These are hilariously bad. Anything can be Fallout-y if you just slap VaultBoy faces on stuff.

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

VD said they'd be entering IGF 2009, which means a feature-complete version of the game has to be ready by 2008 September, or so. Maybe not Q1, but a 2008 release doesn't seem that unlikely now, at any rate.

    Age of Decadence Roundup

I think I remember Elhoim pointing out the lack of support for specular maps in TGE 1.3, the version they're using. I suppose it isn't too likely it'd support shaders either, then.

GFW Top 10 PC games of 2008 features Fallout 3

I sometimes wonder whether there's a huge sack of cash involved, or people decide to throw reason and journalistic standards out the window by their own will. This article makes me lean towards the former option, considering the Freudian slip stating that "there's not enough info to decide...

    Swearing BoS Paladins? Nope.

Good news. You can cross off 'foulmouthed' from the 'foulmouthed noble knights of the wasteland' thing needing to be fixed.

    The Witcher Thread

So, apparently we're going to get a localized version of the game hereabouts, which is fairly uncommon. Here's hoping that Polish translates better into Hungarian than English (or rather that semi-broken English re-translates into something intelligible, eh). And that they won't censor stuff...

    Fallout 3 preview on Gamebanshee

"Nprotagonist"? Wasn't NPC good enough? Other than that, a good read.

    A Fallout 3 Conversation

And how about something more recent? My point being that nowadays there seem to be far too many PC games that could easily pass for a console game, or heck, are straight console ports/multiplatform releases. I've no problems with console games at all, as long as PC games providing a...

    A Tale of Two Cities

Desslock, meet Vagrant Story. Vagrant Story, meet Desslock. FO3's VATS is pretty similar to that, except with everything but the most basic aspects cut out. Simplification =/= innovation. Though if you consider the "more action" part innovative, then possibly.

Fallout's 10th anniversary: Desslock interviews Feargus

My reaction to that part was, and I quote, "BWO-HOH-HOH-HAHAHA!".

    Playstation Universe interviews Pete Hines

Comedy gold. Really, there isn't much that can be added. I can't really imagine how it could be any more uninformative and sycophantic an interview. Well, there could be more typos/factual inaccuracies, though. ("rat scorpions" and the like)

Fallout's 10th anniversary: Bethesda 'design a perk' contest

In Fallout 3, it is. "This is the wasteland. Life is cheap and violence is all that there is. You're going to make people remember that, including those pesky invulnerable children, who seem to have forgotten." I think I'll actually submit that, why the heck not.

Fallout's 10th anniversary: Bethesda 'design a perk' contest

I'm wondering how many will send in a "Childkiller" perk.

Same way it did in Morrowind, perhaps?

    Pete Hines fires back

I thought that reusing one of Emil's stupidest comments would give it away. Seems like I need to use the [sarcasm] tag more often. My point was that when referring to Fallout as turn-based and isometric, everyone knows precisely what you're talking about, even though it might not be...

    Pete Hines fires back

It's a common misconception that Fallout was isometric, similarly to how it's a common misconception that Fallout was turn-based.

    Apokalypsos: A Post-Apocalyptic MMO Project

Yes, that is why I said two weeks and not less. ;) It's obviously dependent on the person, and it might be an optimistic estimate, but I do think 2.5 months would suffice to learn C++ and get creating something in a pre-existing game engine. Then again, I've no idea how effective TGEA would be...
