Fallout 2 & 3 side by side comparison

I'm pretty sure "Planescape Torment has no farms! Ergo, it sucks." was definitely sarcasm. Either way, you got yer feathers ruffled there a bit Ravager ;)

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

VATS is *certainly* an element of FO3's combat system however. Gimmick or not... Action Points can be a gimmick (in any of the games) - accessing infinite inventory actions for 2-4 APs can be a gimmick. Hexagons can be a gimmick (OMG - Look, we use hexes instead of a grid or "the distance...

Couldn't agree more Well, I could, but that would be just silly.

    Vault 87...how to enter ?

I do know if your in-game character hasn't actually discovered information about vault 87, the option will not be present

Fallout 4- doesn't have to be incremental, chronologically

Personally I think wooden buildings are just a rather "who the fuck cares" type of thing. Let them stay - I never cared either way in ANY of the games.

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

I have nothing against Bethesda - I do think they make fun games. Morrowind is fun. Also, regardless on how silly the story/dialouge was, I thought Oblivion was fun to play. and I found F3 is fun, also - but it certainly doesn;t hold a candle to, story-wise - to F1 (or F2). I have seen...

    Ideas for new Fallout threats

Actually, the BOS were remnants of the armed forces, yes? Actual remnants of the original armed forces, would be dead, however, only their descendants left (again, like the BOS)

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

Basically... they ran out of time to do it right? *facepalm* - well not like this isn't common in the industry At least do the story and how followers interact with the story WAY before you are in that "shit we gotta fix stuff in time phase"

Fallout 2 & 3 side by side comparison

My problem with fallout 3 isn't the setting, the game play, or even the unrealistic version fo a post-apoc world after 200 years. I'm actually OK with all that, it's just a game. It's that main quest.... especially everything from Rivet City onward - it's just makes me throw up in my mouth a...

    Ammo

*shrugs* i had so much ammo near the end fo the game it was ridiculous. granted i played on an easier level when i first played. Even on hard, however, I was crapping out of every "pocket" i had on my character. Of course, the first 5 levels of my character it is a little challenging to...

Shouldn't radiation threats be high? (at least in FO3)

...and radioactive infected goo is bright glowing neon green - at that point, it's not about realism, but either 1) it looks cool AND/OR 2) works decent in a game mechanic

V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

as well as change your weapons, your armor, reload every weapons, and pump up on any aid or combat chems - for the cost of 4 APs - unless you had Quick Pockets, then it was 2 AP (in F2, in F1 - I think - Quick Pockets was a ranked perk). So basically, not that MUCH different.

And with hotkeys, you don't even need to do that... unless you just want to "pause"

What if X made Fallout Y?

I wouldn't trust Obsidian to make a good Fallout game, at least not right now... as mapex saud, I think they would be pushed around to make a game that some "suit" wanted. KOTOR 2 was "meh", NWN 2 looks kinda "meh" (and, from what I hear, it is "meh"). Maybr they are working on some truly...

Shouldn't radiation threats be high? (at least in FO3)

Well, honestly there was green glowing goo in F1 and F2 that was radiation... so, really, it isn't anything new in the Fallout world.

How did you discover Fallout ?

Also, most of the people that I know who have played Fallout 3 as their only Fallout games has little interest in old school gaming, or any deep RPGs (not to preclude that they WOULDN'T like it, just the trend I personally noticed so far)

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #89

why do all these reviews call VATS the "classic Fallout VATS system" (or similar thereof)? VATS is a Fallout 3 creation, yes? In F1 and F2, targeting was just called an aimed shot, in fact I don't think it had a specific name (if it does, I don't remember it). I imagine this is their way of...
