    Editorializing Fallout 3

The commercials didn't have much to do with my post, but since I brought up how Nintendo advertised Zelda, I thought some people around here would get a kick out of them. Though one of them did mention "adventure", which Nintendo uses a lot in conjunction with Zelda. Sidenote: there's a Japanese...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #66

Wow, and I thought you were scraping the bottom of the review-barrel before. Little did I know that you had this in store for us, Per.

    Editorializing Fallout 3

Nope, Zelda has always been described as an adventure series by Nintendo. I've been a shameless Nintendo fanboy for a long time now, and I don't recall them ever marketing Zelda as a RPG. I can only guess that it comes from gamers who've never played a real RPG, and Zelda is the closest they've...

Fallout 3 Alternative Soundtrack Project Seeks Composers

Nice stuff yasahi; I like the first two in particular. Very dark and industrial.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #65

I never thought I'd be reading FO3 reviews from sites called "AsianWeek" and "Load Screen Review". Yes, let's find out specifically what Asians and load screen enthusiasts think of Fallout 3.

    Editorializing Fallout 3

aenemic, I'm nearly 30 years old, and you're the first person I've ever heard claim that Zelda is a RPG, or that it's a "common belief" that Zelda is a RPG. Zelda is an action/adventure series. The only thing close to a RPG in the Zelda series is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

    Fallout 3 - Wasteland Dancin'

Dumb? Yes. Pointless? Yes. Amusing in its absurdity? Yes. How can you not laugh at dancin' Dogmeat?

    Fallout 3 tidbits

I think most people actually call those "SRPGs", or "Strategy RPGs" e.g. the Fire Emblem series. I love 'em too. Anyway I'd be happy if we could all just stop sticking random letters in front of "RPG". I just like good games, I don't give a crap what genre they belong to.

    Fallout 3 tidbits

Yeah, Japanese RPGs are very story-driven. My biggest gripe with JRPGs is that the majority of them tend to lead you from place to place by the nose (some worse than others). Still, I love the old-school, turn-based, random combat that a lot of JRPGs still use, as well as games with job systems...

Bethesda Softworks Announces Creation Kit and DLC

Heads up to Americans, Fallout 3's going to be on sale for $30 this Friday at Amazon.com. With the release of the editor in addition to all the mods that are out already, this game just might be much, much more playable in the very near future.

Fallout 3 Alternative Soundtrack Project Seeks Composers

Good stuff Mr Bumble. I'm thinking about digging up some old Fallout-inspired music I did a few years ago and submitting it.

    Fallout 3 tidbits

I don't think he was necessarily saying "I see no difference between Western and Japanese RPGs", I think he was simply saying that he had never heard of the term "JRPG" to distinguish between the two. Hell, I'm a big fan of JRPGs, and I'd never heard of the term til I ran across it a few...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #54

Not to beat a dead horse regarding how "in 1997 you just didn’t do first-person RPGs", but...Bard's Tale? Might and Magic? Ultima Underworld? And that's not including Bethesda's own FP RPGs. Jeebus.

Best one-liner I've read in a FO3 review thus far.

    NMA: Fallout 3 impressions

Yeah, I can see where the original music might pull you back into the old games too much and detract from the one you were currently playing. Still, Mark's music is just quintessentially Fallout for me. Btw those are some nice screens you posted previously.

Fallout 3's Megaton safe from Japanese gamers

That whooshing sound some of you might have heard was Per's sarcasm zipping right over your heads. [at least I think he was being sarcastic]

The 4 snippets above are prime examples of why Per should keep on posting reviews. This stuff is comedy gold.

    NMA: Fallout 3 impressions

I think replacing all of Zur's music with Mark Morgan's music from the original games would probably be a good idea. Just seems to fit the mood better.
