    Exchange student

Stay clear of Sweden. There are tons of exchange students at my school, and I keep asking myself why the hell one would choose Jönköping, Sweden, as the place to study in when presented with the option of going virtually anywhere in the world. I'd go to New Zealand, which is exactly what I plan...

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

Better late than never, although I think I posted a "hello" message in some thread back when I first joined. Yep, I did.

    Blind Anti-Americanism. What's it good for, y'all?

It's not like the Yanks force Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, whatever, to convert to protestant christianity in order to get a green card, so I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to argue here

    Blind Anti-Americanism. What's it good for, y'all?

To be fair though, many countries in Europe suffers from great problems with integration, problems that seem to be getting worse rather than better. I actually think the American system is better.

    Blind Anti-Americanism. What's it good for, y'all?

The problem here is that the U.S., while having done a lot of good things, also have done a lot of bad things. Some of your policies in South America comes to mind, as do actions performed during the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts. "Better" is also a very relative term to use, as well as "doing...

    Combat skills in FO3

True, making a sword isn't that hard, it's making a good one that causes you trouble, but then again what do I know, I'm not a smith nor a metallurgist and my objections against swords are more on the "philosophical" level. I'm all for makeshift weapons, though.

    Combat skills in FO3

Yes, but I'm practical. If I were fighting a war in medieval times, I'd be a hell of a lot more scared of a group of Swiss halberdiers than a group of swordsmen. In Japan, katanas were used for close quarter fighting, but skills with the yari and naginata were extremely valuabe on the...

    Models and armors

Nice. I guess this kind of makes the Awareness perk obsolete though, at least to the experienced gamer.

    Combat skills in FO3

I'd rather see people make bows out of mutated yew and try to perfect the art of spear and javelin making, things that might actually come in handy in the everyday life in the wasteland. Besides, spears and pole arms are cooler than swords.

    Oh happy joy!

Naturally. I'm surprised they're even making an expansion pack for a game this old, guess the Gold Pack must have sold fairly well.

 Damn, that was unexpected. Still good news.

    Blind Anti-Americanism. What's it good for, y'all?

While blind anti-Americanism isn't good, blind American patriotism isn't much better. One thing I've noticed during the past few years on message board discussions is that many Americans tend to take complaints about their government (real or perceived) personal and quickly turn hostile towards...

Introduce yourself! AKA the "Say hello" thread

Not exactly new, but not exactly a regular either, so hello. I'm Azael, a 23-year old student from Sweden who spends too much time gaming and discussing games for his own good.

Seeing how the Chinese are the Reds in the game, I'd say it's safe to assume that Mao did usurp power in the Fallout universe as well. Even so, I highly doubt that a propaganda officer would have Swordsmithing 101 as a required part of their training.

    Scientists and warriors

I don't know if realism is something to be strived for in future Fallout games. I guess it's a matter of personal taste though, I absolutely loathed having to go back to town in Diablo just to repair my King's Sword of the Bear after whacking an arbitrary number of beasts in the head, but maybe...

Human Rights in USA- permanent or temporary decline?

If anything, history has shown us that it's a lot easier to take away rights than to give them back and that once the government has received more power they are reluctant to give it away.

    Cigarettes

Well, teeth get stained by cigarettes too and with snus/snuff you're at least not inhaling hot cancerous smoke into your lungs. I'm not doing the stuff myself, but it's clearly the lesser of two evils. Now cigars, that's a habit I could pick up, if only they weren't so expensive.

    Scientists and warriors

Personally, I've never really liked having to maintain items in computer games. Same thing in the military actually, it was fun to fire my assault rifle (not to mention my 120 mm mortar), a bitch to clean it afterwards.

If not the name, than at least the description/tooltip should be made to reflect this so that even the player who doesn't read the manual should be able to get it.

    Combat skills in FO3

The art of making good swords took centuries to develop in both Europe and Asia, and these days very few people know how to make them. After all, the demand for fuctional, rather aesthetic, swords is pretty low today. In the years following the apocalypse, I doubt that any of the survivors with...
