Fallout 3 concept artist Adam Adamowicz passed away

I actually liked a fair number of the FO3 concept art, it was how it was executed in-game that I didn't care for. :(

Chris Avellone thinking about Kickstarter and Isometric RPGs

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/02/10/doublefines-happy-day-gives-planescape-dev-kickstarter-fever/ Send him some tweets @ChrisAvellone telling him "fuck yes please" Especially if the community is allowed to help out with Beta testing and such (we all know Obsidian's track record on...

The Rhythm of the Quest in Fallout 3 and New Vegas

If you don't use the quick travel the game world is surprisingly large for FO3 and Skyrim. THAT SAID, there is zero logic to their layout. One of the biggest questions that Bethesda never asks themselves is "why is this HERE?" and "how did it get here?" Game logic should believably...

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Not really cancelled

I told you guys in the "GSC is closing" thread that you needed to read the eurogamer and destructoid articles. The original "story breaking" informant was not a member of GSC at all and was reporting based on things he heard from someone who did work at GSC. Basically playing a game of...

Bethesda gets FOOL rights, Interplay gets $2 million

It wasn't fallout though. Mario RPG is a great game too but it wasn't a Mario game it was a squaresoft RPG with Mario as a setting. Hopefully this means we wont have to see anymore from Lionel Hutz for a while.

Guess it's FINALLY over. Thank god.

Duck and Cover reports FOOL case has been settled

My guess is that Bethesda's settlement offer looks something like this:

Claim details from Bethesda vs Interplay

God knows that every time I BUILD a house the first thing I do is piss all over the floor the minute someone buys it. Given that Obsidian houses many of the people responsible for the rules that Bethesda promptly chucked out the window when they purchased Fallout it seems ironic that they...

The contract argument in a nutshell.

Bethesda vs Interplay continued, FOOL screenshot

"Can afford to experiment" and yet... they don't. Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 only titles released since WoW came out. The only experimental parts of these 2 games was "lets see how we can milk our customers better" via splitting SC2 campaigns into separate games, and Diablo 3's new real $...

Bethesda vs Interplay continued, FOOL screenshot

This was the exact image that came to mind when reading the results. God I hope that those 2 to 2 1/2 days are made into some awful Made for TV movie.

GSC Gameworld is shutting down; no S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

If you read the dtoid article you'll see that they mention UkraNews which posted it first before GSC denied it, then UkraNews deleted the denial and posted Bourkovski's tweets. Chances are that UkraNews got the information that it was closing FROM Bourkovski first.

http://www.destructoid.com/s-t-a-l-k-e-r-2-canceled-gsc-shuts-down-update--217559.phtml Might not be closing. Probably is, but MIGHT not.

    7/10: The review problem

What a funny coincidence. Just 2 days ago I had done some number crunching on metacritic after reading that Skyrim had received over 50 "Perfect" reviews. Here is what I did. I went to the "highest rated games of all time" section. I then took the the first two pages of games listed which had...

Sequels that should be f***ing made.

There is a sequel to Earthbound, it is called "Mother 3" it was released on the GBA and there is a fantastic fan translation of the entire game. It is absolutely MUST PLAY quality gaming. Commander Keen would be nice to see make a comeback. I loved the stories and gameplay for those games. I...

How would you reboot an existing franchise into a new genre?

First I've heard of Sim Mars. Was that back when the Sim games were still made by Maxis? Back when Will Wright wasn't insane? (I swear he has been drinking the same water as Molyneux.) Cause I miss those days. Simcity 1 on SNES was a blast. And I put hundreds of hours into Sim City 2000 on PC...

How would you reboot an existing franchise into a new genre?

Actually they aren't. Forgotten Sands is more of a return to The Sands of Time style. And Prince of Persia 2008 was a complete departure from either the classic style PoP or Sands of Time. It had fast paced impossible acrobatics with absolutely no reprecutions for failure and none of the combat...

How would you reboot an existing franchise into a new genre?

This actually makes me think that Deus Ex would be interesting as a sort of X-Com style action point based tactical game.

How would you reboot an existing franchise into a new genre?

Regardless of their QUALITY they actually often do very well or at least well enough to justify their creation in the eyes of the investors. How about when Prince of Persia went from a slow paced "avoid the traps" style exploration/platforming game to an action based 3rd person 3D platformer...
