Emil Pagiarulo on quest structures & NPCs in Fallout 3

Nice to see him absorbing flak on Oblivion, their usual tactic is to deflect it. I like Emil, he seems to be the most credible of the bunch. I can vouch for Shivering Isles being an improvement over Oblivion, in respect to factions/quests. But it's still quite a bit short of what Morrowind...

Epic Gaming Poster with a Fallout Reference. (NSFW)

Heh, cool poster. As others have said many inaccuracies and blanks on the solution. The windup elephant above earthworm Jim is a reference to KKND, I think. Abe is in a Mech from Battletech/MW. The un-named guy with a scythe is from Dungeon Siege (I think!). 'No More Winds' =...

    Super Tankers Scrapped

Interesting pictures. The first one reminds me of ancient Egypt, gargantum structures with lines of tiny workers - quite surreal.

how did you kill the president in fallout 2?

Super Stim in the end, first time I planted C4 and the game crashed. I wish there had been an alternative stealth-kill route, both C4 and Super Stims to me were cheating really :(

Inside the Vault - Daniel Lee

Disappointed not to see a C64, Amiga, or Spectrum on that list. Was it meant to be impressive, or something? :P

    Todd answers 25 questions

I sort of agree with Todd regarding descriptions, in a modern FPS if a scene needs a descriptor then the artist and sound guys have failed. Take the following example: A room full of rotting/stinking corpses. In F1 the descriptor would probably describe: 'the putrid stench, flies buzzing...

Am I the only one who thinks the girl on the left looks like a genie? :P I really don't like the framing, they should have had something obscure the character cut-off point to avoid the 'genie' issue imo.

    Omega Syndrome pulls the plug

Well that's a shame. I was really interested in seeing more stuff in a similar vein, I really liked the visual style. It's a pity he can't release it for free, seems a bit of an overkill to completely kill the project, but I guess releasing it like that would piss off people who paid or...

Fallout 3 trailer sets franchise record

I kept hitting F5 non stop for days, I was expecting to see a Fallout game at some point... but never did. I demand a refund, I want my hits back!

    Bethesda responds to NMA's preview

Don't a fair few 'real' journalists post here anyway? - They go to these press events, then often discuss the game and respond to queries on the fan forums - does that make them all deceitful and dishonest? I'm sure if Pete had asked, they would have given an honest answer. The fact BN is...

How 2K Games And Bioshock Took Back The West

I have to agree with the Warren Spector quote, for the most part. I've bought games based on the recommendations of people who pirated them. Would I have bought said games without the recommendation? Unlikely. Have I gone on to recommend the game's to others? - most definitely. A pirate...

PC Gaming: Why I'll Never Console Myself with Second Best

I used to like consoles, back when they were consoles. To me a console was/is an arcade machine for your living room, something to play with friends (next to you) and have a quick blast on when bored. As of late though, they are increasingly turning into PC-Lites complete with dumbed down PC...

NMA Fallout 3 preview and Q&A

Great job guys. Shame you had to sneak in - did they have snipers in place for anyone representing the Codex? :P Is there any word on human enemies outside the vault? All the focus in the demo seems to be on wasting mutants/monsters - I'm vaguely curious as to how raiders and human enemies...

BioShock in for a bumpy release

The box states DX 9.0c compliant, or higher. Then as a rough guide says '6600 or x1300 or better' - Nowhere does it state 'SM 3.0 is needed' - many high end SM 2.0 cards are considered vastly better than those noted, my 9800 runs circles around my friends x1300. They should've put it on the...

BioShock in for a bumpy release

Don't think it's been mentioned, but the SM 2.0 fan patch is grounded due to the DRM now. Seemingly if you alter any of the major files the game refuses to load as securom 'protects' them all. Until it's removed (or circumvented) I don't think there will be much progress on that front :(

BioShock in for a bumpy release

Hmm the 2 registrations thing seems stupid. When I re-install games it's usually because windows has died (in which case an un-install won't be an option). It sounds far worse than Steam/Hl2, yet again honest consumers get punished instead of the pirates (as if this will deter them). In other...

    Second streak of Bioshock reviews

That happens in pretty much every sequel. Fallout 2 assumes a certain end-game occurred in Fallout 1, obvious example being Tandi/Shady Sands/NCR. In BGII I killed all the NPC's who I had either killed, or got killed in BG1 - including those at the beginning. It let you do that (if you...
