Tim Willits and Todd Hollenshead on Rage

I can't say i'm a Romero fan either, but it's interesting how many of the original gang have been forced out of id on less than favourable terms over the years (Romero, Adrian Carmack, McGee, etc). Seems like there's been quite a lot of dodgy goings on there (and a lot of bullying). Pretty sad...

    What is your weather like?

It's dull with a slight breeze and a temp of ~15°C. It however is not raining, so this equates to a good day here in Wales. :)

    Second streak of Bioshock reviews

I suspect Bioshock is a great game, worthy of praise, but 100% is idiotic. Mind you, when the media gives shitty games scores of 97% there isn't much left to manoeuvre with when something truly brilliant comes out.... this is even worse when they are using the even more crippled out of 5, or...

    Fallout 3 not silly

Their core audience wouldn't know what 'venereal' meant anyway.

    PC PowerPlay interviews Todd Howard

So using VATS constitutes as a meaningful choice? I was wondering how they were going to approach choice and consequence :P

General Gaming Megathread: What are you playing?

All the talk of Tech5 and RAGE made me reinstall Doom3 and try out some mods... turns out there aren't any worth bothering with :P Also still hooked on Armageddon Empires.

What's your favorite crpg NPC character?

Recruitable: Myron Canderous (KOTOR) Minsc (BG2) Morte (PST) Non Recruitable: Shodan (Not a 'real' rpg, but meh) Smiling Jack (VtMB) The Master Jon Irenicus (BG2) Stillwater Giant (Arcanum)

    I got Oblivion

It's definitely improved by mods, but none really touch/fix the main quest. The only quest tree worth bothering with really is the Dark Brotherhood one, which is quite nice (if linear). Worth noting the big mods, like Obscuros require a fresh start (at least the last time I checked) - if your...

    id's post-apocalyptic game: Rage

After Doom3, I'm pleased to hear it will be set outdoors - just hope the suns up. Could be interesting, but they really need to go back and look at the gameplay side of things. D3 was rubbish, it neither captured the run and gun satisfaction of their earlier games, nor did it provide more...

    Play interviews Emil Pagliarulo

Yeah, I think I'll put a wager on the end story resembling Jeremiah too. You could link the Master/Master's Army to 'Daniel' - both attempts to create a new world order, and capable of steam rolling everything in their path. It's not been announced, but there is sure as hell going to be...

    Play interviews Emil Pagliarulo

We should all print out that interview where Cain mentions it was always meant to be turnbased combat (and why), hi-light appropriate parts and mail them to one Bethesda Softworks. They really are in desperate need of a clue, justifying their move to real-time the way they are is really scraping...

    GameSpot interviews Todd Howard

It's too late to complain when you've forked out £30. If it looks and smells like shit, odds are it is shit.... Gravity guns, FATMAN, Orcs, VATS, FPP, 'Action RPG', Thermonuclear cars, 5 nukes to kill a behemoth, Mutant infested tunnels.. the list goes on, all the way down to silly little...

    Death Race 3000 remake?

Anderson is pretty weak director, however I did enjoy both Soldier and Event Horizon. He seems to have a good grasp at artistic direction, but is utterly clueless in every other aspect that counts imo. All his films have looked great, but suffered from appalling dialogue, poor acting, and bad...

    ZeniMax forms Online division

If it is TES online, the potential is there for quite an interesting gameworld - but they would have to go back and look at Daggerfall/Morrowind for inspiration. Oblivion online would be even blander than WoW, both from a visual standpoint and in terms of lore etc. Can't say i'm interested...

Timeslip Fallout 1 and 2 engine tweaks

Sounds cool. I don't have F1/2 with me at present to try, but the speed and mouse wheel inventory sound espescially neat. I've been running F1/2 windowed with D3DWindower for some time now, but this sounds like a far more elegant solution. Two thumbs up!

RPGVault: Age of Decadence Sneak Peek #2

Looks very cool, the animations are very good, better than NWN2 imo. The death by spear animation was very impressive. Agree with the combat needing to be sped up a tad, I noticed he's said that's on the to-do list (as is running in combat). Only other real criticism I have is the textures...

    Joel Burgess interview

They released the Oblivion kit after it shipped... why can't they just do that, and say upfront now: "it won't ship with the game, but will be released not long after - when we have the time" or similar? It's a load of bollocks imo, they want to be able to flog premium mods to a locked in...

    Pete Hines interview on SPOnG

Yeah - by having turn-based combat when everything else was real-time, being ISO when the tech to do FPP was there. Why didn't you mention that Pete? Quite amusing that out of all the features, he has to cite lip synch. Like that hadn't ever been done before in pre-rendered footage. Honestly...
