I find it absolutely hilarious that those morons would pay money for those so-called "extensions", I doubt any number of shiny new armors would give me hours of additional enjoyment. I hope any other perspective developers following Oblivion aren't intending to follow Bethesda's model...

The game is quite fun as long as you stick to the combat, however if you, god forbid, try to roleplay your enjoyment level drops significantly (a mistake I made to begin with that's left a sour taste in my mouth). I now spend most of the time in the game just looking for new dungeons to conquer...

Oh god, that male voice on quite a few of the NPC's drives me absolutely crazy, it's the most annoying voice I've ever heard. I'm tempted to slaughter any NPC who uses the voice as soon as I come across them.

You could always just give up doing side quests and only do the main quest. Levelling has been made rather pointless in this game, it gives you no real advantage over your opponents which levelling is supposed to do, so you may as well not bother with side quests. Money is of no object since...

Item and mob scaling is horrible. Every single mob you come across is killable from level 1 up to level xx. And since the items scale with your level you'll soon find your bran new Daedric armor (meant to be very rare in the TES world) becomes worthless because every bandit and his sister has a set.

I very much doubt that Bethesda designed it to be that way, even in the context of the story it doesn't really make much sense because the emperor is dead, yes, but the empire is still be ruled by the high council. Now for my initial report...

Stopping an A.I. from shooting you in the back could be as easy as a ray-trace, the staple of any game that uses projectile weapons, seems pretty stupid if they didn't put in any checks like that.

Well my copy arrives tomorrow so I'll know once and for all if the game is worth the hype or if it's just gaming press hyperbole as usual. Though I find it difficult to believe any game deserves the hype Oblivion is getting.
