Heh, I think I've heard you describe a similar situation for a few games now... Why do you insist on buying games you can't run, while you could save all that money, upgrade/buy a new rig and then buy the same games at lowered price since they're not brand-new any more...

Haha, I recognise this so badly. I didn't just fall in love with the game, I actually fell in love with a chick that I met in the game. I actually dumped my girlfriend at the time for her. I played it very intensely during a 2-year period, when I was 17-19 years old. I can only hope that now...

Bastion is very nice yes. I bought Orcs Must Die! during the sale the other day. Pretty fun incarnation of a 3rd-person tower defense game. Also re-playing Freespace 2. God that thing RULES!

Freespace 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. It's not an exploration game though, just straight up space-combat sim/shooter. But awesome to the max.

Marketing ploys are one of the necessary evils of nearly all industries. If we have to have them, then I'd prefer them to be original and well-wrapped like this one. It's clever. Also slightly funny to see people fall for it. Trolling has a negative connotation though (maybe just for me?)...

The striked through things are already fixed in BFBC2. The last three points are dependant on the server as far as I've seen. Not all servers I've played on have those things.* *Disclaimer: I've only ever played BFBC2, so can't compare with the true Battlefield games.

Maybe it's better on EU servers, but I nearly never have ping issues. The lack of teamwork can be annoying, but all it takes is a 2 friends you can play with and you're set for a good match. Not too much LOLkids either, but again, might be the regional difference... All in all, I love this...
