    Sightseeing in Fallout: New Vegas

I have to wonder, doesn't showing screenshots count as "spoilers"? I would submit that sightseeing is the primary reason to play the game; therefore, viewing screenshots of the coolest places you can discover negates the only compelling reason to play.

J.E. Sawyer on key dialogue writing concepts

Well... this is great advice if your team tends to write boring dialog options, and horrible advice if your team has a sense of humor. So, the examples from, say, Mass Effect show us that having more boring dialog options is not an improvement. On the other hand take the Fallout 1/2 approach...

    Bitmob Surveys Fallout 3 glitches

I bought F2 off the shelves on launch day, wins hands down. Personal favorite: bugs would result in corrupted save game data, which would still load and seem to work fine. After you got a new patch (and there were a lot of those) you had to start the game over, even if you hadn't encountered...

The Next Level Interviews Bethesdas Emil Pagliarulo

Divide by Fallout error. Halted. :) Seriously, though... of all the depressing "oh that's why it sucked" developer quotes I've seen, this "Oblivion with guns" one is the saddest. The developers keep finding ways to rationalize their rape of a franchise they don't respect or (apparently)...

PSM3: PS3 DLC comes to those who wait and wait

Completely ignoring any issues of accuracy... Let me see if I have this right: X360 has an exclusive now, PS3 has an exclusive coming later... Yup, he's right, that covers every important platform. Right? I can't help thinking there's some other platform out there. Let's see... PSP...

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

Re: This section is disheartening ^ Does not read for pleasure. edit: I think his argument would be more convincing if he'd made a little podcast and uploaded it to youtube, instead of typing it as a bunch of boring old text.

    NMA Caption Contest.

Oops. I guess I was vague there. Exploding head images... well... I mean, in F3 they're a dime a dozen aren't they? I guess what I really mean is that I expected someone to notice that--so much so that I didn't even really bother... Well, yeah. Should be a darn easy mod, all text. Let's see...

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #54

Stigma? Stigma!?! *sputter* I... speaking ... angry... guh. Must breathe. I'm going to go drink a beer now. And then I'm going to avoid the reviews section altogether. Indefinitely. It just hurts to see how lame modern gamers are. (And I like F3--a lot. Still sad.)

    NMA Caption Contest.

OK, I'm just getting back to checking this thread... and all I can say is: "WTF, nobody made a YOUR HEAD ASPLODE" image? Oh well. Anyway, I want a mod that substitutes that for "Head Crippled". edit: And I want it to also say "YOUR ARM ASPLODE", "YOUR LEG ASPLODE", etc. Naturally.

    Fallout 1-2-3 related game nostalgia/subjectivity

I recently replayed both games, starting (by pure coincidence) just before the announcement of F3. The games are still good. Perhaps you should install "some emulators" and revisit UU2. I've done this with nearly every "old favorite" game I played, from Quarantine to Descent 2, and the classics...

    Fallout 3 performance tidbitses

Well, if I'm not mistaken most game engines are just getting support for multi-threading. It's a lot harder than it sounds to add threading support without introducing strange bugs...

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

"Well, a doctor cures people. A medic just helps people feel more comfortable... while they die." --Doc (Red vs. Blue) I personally think that it makes perfect sense to have them as separate skills... from a realism perspective. From a gameplay perspective, I never could see the point of...

One way to actually kill the children

So, the workaround is simple: * edit the ini file * use console commands to turn child into teenager * kill child, possibly by accident during a firefight or something, possibly out of rage or insanity, depending on your character... * Locate corpse. Use console commands to convert...

    Freezing issue

Rumor has it that there are problems specifically with the nVidia 8800 series cards, and that if you have those problems you can reduce the effect by turning off FSAA (I know, sad isn't it?) and running the program windowed. Works for me. Mostly.

    Gripes about the writing

Well, that's actually an interesting statement. Is it really better to be tediously long-winded? Because that's Mass Effect in a nutshell.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #23

*sigh* So achievements = hardcore now. I'm going to hate this decade. (OK, I do see what he really means here, but still...)

    Gamasutra kills children

Nobody ever mentions the one reason I would want to kill children in Fallout: By Accident! In the first two games, I remember being branded a child killer because of an accidental "you missed!" shooting, and had to live with the shame for the rest of the game. When I shoot a car by...

    Fallout 3 - First Mods

Yes, I believe that was his point. :) The statement "taking a giant piss all over it" is as far from the truth as "stayed true to the lore". Beth did both bad and good things here--It's really somewhere in the middle. Middle ground isn't very popular these days, I hear. (I know, I know...

    Fallout 3 - First Mods

I realize that these mods are easier to make because they don't have far-reaching scripting implications, and that's why they are done first. Still, I think it's ironic how things that don't bother me are the first to be "fixed". :) Augh! And the way you have to hold the mouse button down...

Bethesda Defends "3" in Fallout 3.

To me, the exploration has an almost STALKER feel to it, to the point where I think the correct name for the game would be "Fallout: Clear Sky", although that's kind of already taken. I also feel like F3 is a better "Spiritual successor to System Shock" than Bioshock was, the influence is...
