I was merely providing an explanation why they did not use the original design not a reason why the design is good. Also we have not seen many of the weapons that are being used in game yet, they may have preserved some of the designs. I also think the mini gun they showed looks okay.

I am still waiting to see how this game turns out, as we have seen so little all we can really do is criticize the thematic design, the world design and the combat. Also we can criticize Bethesda's marketing strategy that focuses on combat and visuals but that doesn't necessarily impact the game.

Possibly they tried to create a midsized laser weapon and had to think up a new design, as in the original their is no middle ground between the pistol and the large sniper-like laser.

I am not going to complain about graphics, as a game with fairly bad graphics can still be good. And also the less focus is put into making every thing look good the more focus is spent on the other aspects like game play and making a large game world. Also the picture messes with the forums...

I like the laser effects, although I would prefer that the lasers cut the enemy to bits rather then toasting them as in the original. It looks like the effect that should be used for the plasma weaponry.

I am a fairly recent fallout fan (finding the original games is a bit of a pain these days) and now rank the original games very near the top of my list of favorite games. I also have a love for RPGs of all varieties.
