In my experience you can also exploit it to duplicate items in the Den. If a kid pickpockets an item below a container, it stays in your inventory and a duplicate appears in the kid's inventory which you can then steal. I don't like to exploit bugs myself, but there it is anyway.

I don't know the exact formula, unfortunately, but AFAIK you get a bonus based on your Perception vs. your range. So if you have a Perception of 9 and are shooting at a target six hexes away you get a bonus to your chance to hit. I would say it is something like 5% per hex or thereabouts...

If I knew enough to help, I'd join a team for this in a minute. Unfortunately, my expertise at the moment is limited to very simple scripting and even simpler mapping, so I wouldn't be of much use. Maybe if a proofreader was needed, but that's about it.

Another solution might be to have his guns fire more quickly than the ones the PC can get. Let him shoot four times per round or some such, i.e. two per pistol.
