    Fallout New Vegas: Story inconsistency?

I think you're viewing the situation from the wrong perspective in a couple of different ways. First and foremost, I believe the game was written with the expectation that the character would complete some quests and start to make a name for herself by the time she reached that stage in the...

    A Fallout3 comic

They're like 10 years old at this point in the comic. Cool your engines.

Adam Adamowicz Fallout 3 concept art

I actually think that capturing the visual aesthetic of Fallout is one thing Bethesda did pretty well. Looking at this art, it seems Adam played a substantial role in that.

J.E. Sawyer on Fallout weapon skills

Weapon progression is pretty minor aspect of your character, and the game designers will always be dictating that to a certain degree. For example, it's pretty much not possible to use the varmint rifle for all of New Vegas, even if you really, really wanted to play Varmint Killin' Stan, the...

J.E. Sawyer on Fallout weapon skills

Totally, and I think that's perfectly reasonable.

J.E. Sawyer on Fallout weapon skills

I agree with this in a big way. In the original Fallout, I never really had an issue making the transition from small guns to energy weapons or big guns. It actually felt pretty natural to me. Has Sawyer ever explained this desire to have every skill be useful from the beginning of the game...

The Origins of Fallout, Part 3

It's interesting to me that he took the FEV position over radiation. Although I prefer radiation as an explanation for mutation specifically for its cheesy "SCIENCE!" theme, it's looking like FEV is starting to win the argument. It seems we have Chris Taylor and now Scott Campbell plugged for...

The Origins of Fallout, Part 2

Very nice series so far. I love it.

Brian Fargo considers Kickstarter for Wasteland 2

He also came across poorly in the recent Matt Chat with Peter Oliphaunt regarding Stonekeep. I don't think I dislike the guy on a personal level, but I don't think he's a good manager.

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

Only because they didn't need to use them as counter-sniper weapons. Duh.

JE Sawyer on the GRA item pack

The turbo plasma rifle was pretty nutty, but it at least it was a late game weapon that required you to transition from small guns to energy weapons.

    gun runner's arsenal your thoughts?

Me too, but I'm not holding my breath. This is Sawyer's baby, and I wouldn't be surprised if that guy is the reason the Mojave wasteland was littered with M4s in the first place.

Why do you think a crossbow was never added?

I never had an opinion on a crossbow in Fallout before, but now I definitely don't want one. Silus was very persuasive.

    Barebones Playthrough

Well, if he's a scout, then sneak would be obvious possibility for the third tag skill. I played a build somewhat like this when I did a melee character, although I didn't bother limiting my selection of armor or skill point usage. I figure a talented, adaptable tribal would use any advantage he...

So are the first two games worth playing?

Well, they're fantastic games so of course you should give them a try. They don't really have all that much in common with JRPGs, so don't go into them expecting the familiar conventions to be present.

    Melee Builds... Extremely Powerful

I believe that it can be a powerful weapon, but I guess it depends on your goal in the game. Maxing out that build requires investing 30 points or more in a skill you won't use, finding all of the magazines for that same skill, and taking like four different perks. Or you could get Oh, Baby! and...

    Melee Builds... Extremely Powerful

Yeah, I don't get all of the focus on Piercing Strike for melee builds. Raising unarmed all the way up to 70 just for that one perk does not seem like a great use of points, especially when Knock Knock is doing 60+ damage per swing without even being the top melee weapon.

    Cazadors- your thoughts?

Cazadors have no armor, so you would actually be better using hollowpoints or buckshot. Anything to max the damage.

An open letter to Obsidian Entertainment

Well, I have definitely had more stability issues and quest-breaking bugs with New Vegas than I had with Fallout 3. It's a valid point that NV is a larger, more complex game, but it's tough to know how much weight to give that sort of thing. I personally don't think that excuses everything I...
