Matt Chat interviews Brian Fargo #3

The situation deteriorated so severely under Fargo that Torn was canceled because Interplay basically couldn't afford to fund its development. Not that I thought Torn was going to be all that great, but that's a really bad sign.

Matt Chat interviews Brian Fargo #3

Brian Fargo does seem like a pretty nice guy, but he helped drive Interplay into the ground. It's okay to dislike him for that.

Jesse Heinig on ghouls and FEV

It seemed to be the issue for Arr0nax: That's the post to which I was responding.

Jesse Heinig on ghouls and FEV

Besides, nothing even remotely like FEV exists in the real world either. It is incoherent to argue for FEV over radiation as a cause of mutations for reasons relating to actual science or medicine.

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

Re: Take over clause At this point I'm starting to suspect you're fucking with me, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. However, I do feel as thought we're going in circles, so this is the last response I will make to you on the matter. I want to be absolutely clear on these points...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

Re: Take over clause No contract contains that clause. However, the Asset Purchase Agreement does contain a clause that if the APA is voided for any reason, the Exclusive Licensing Agreement will be in full effect as if it always had been.

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

Re: Take over clause Your recollection is not quite accurate. The Asset Purchase Agreement does not mentioned the MMOG at all. That is covered solely in the Trademark License Agreement. If the court finds that Interplay did not meet their obligations as outlined in the TLA and therefore...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

Re: Take over clause The Exclusive Licensing Agreement was totally superseded by the later agreements. It won't factor into the case at all unless the APA is voided, rescinded or otherwise nullified. The possibility of that happening is incredibly remote. I'm not sure what you're asking...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

I'm not forgetting anything. When a party is held to be in breach of a contract, the law recognizes two different types of remedies: remedies at law (monetary damages) and remedies in equity. Although rescission is one possible remedy in equity, the court typically only awards equitable...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

I understand the argument they're making, I just don't think it's going to fly. Reversing a sale like this is a pretty extreme action for a court. Even if the court agrees with Interplay that Bethesda interfered in the efforts, monetary damages seem far more appropriate. As always, though...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

Re: Take over clause Thanks, that's good information. I was Googling news stories and checking SEC filings to try and get a handle on who owns Interplay, but I wasn't having much luck with it. Herve Caen himself seems to own less than 1/6th of the company, and Eric owns considerably less...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

This might work for a while, and it might succeed in forcing Interplay into another legal battle, but I don't think Bethesda could hold the license hostage indefinitely with this tactic. The original license to develop the three games was clearly signed with the expectation that Bethesda would...

    Bethesda: actually, Fallout is ours

Even though Interplay licensed back the MMO rights, they're still owned by Bethesda. So, in that sense, Pete's comments are correct. I wouldn't read too much into any of this, except to point out that the Caens say something stupid every time they open their mouths. These guys are seriously...

New Vegas: How do weapon mod effects work?

I sort of answered my own question. Someone asked the same question on the Nexus Forums. In that thread, he posted a link to a page in the wiki that I had somehow overlooked. It appears there is no way to achieve the beam splitting effect as it is described. It can split the beam or...

New Vegas: How do weapon mod effects work?

So, I was poking around in GECK trying to verify whether the Laser Rifle Beam Splitter was actually not working properly. However, I was not able to figure out exactly how weapon mod effects work. I noticed that in the weapon dialog box, there is a drop-down menu to set weapon effects, but I...

Why am I failing "The House Always Wins IV"?

I started the quest "How Little We Know" before receiving "The House Always Wins IV". After starting THAW4, I then completed HLWK by siding with Cachino and killing Big Sal and Nero. The firefight was totally contained within the office, and no one else in the casino was hurt or became...

NCR guards attacking (even though they weren't earlier!)

Thanks for the help. Double-checking my NPCs did the trick. It seems that sometimes you need to tell them to remove their weapon a second time, even if their sprite isn't holding anything. Perhaps they have something in their item2 slot? Anyway, that seems to be working fine now.

NCR guards attacking (even though they weren't earlier!)

I'm having a similar problem with NCR guards. In my case, this is the first time I have visited NCR in the game. I'm not holding any weapons, and I spoke to each of my followers and told them to put their weapons away. The guards still warn me about carrying weapons and eventually attack me...
