The real issues with Fallout 3, in my opinion.

There's nothing wrong with that. Hell there's nothing wrong with any of it but it'd be good if they provided a lot more back-story.

Padding out The Power Of The Atom

Maybe add some reason as to why it can't be moved. It a megaton bomb so it's obviously heavy, but maybe a more interesting reason would help too.

    Re-creating Fallout 1?

Well I suppose if people wanted to help they could start making the towns and npc's, and skinning the weapons etc. from Fallout 1. These changes are modular so even if the mod fails, the work isn't completely wasted. Then we could draw up a design for exactly how to tie it all together...

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

I agree with eviltwin, don't try to hack FO3 into FO1&2's combat system, you should embrace the new engine and combat style as any attempt to hack it into being purely turn-based will just result in an amateurish buggy failure. I'd either leave the combat alone, or make it so you take more...

F3C - Fixing the Main Quest, a Discussion

Nice idea on making a more difficult and sensible start. I like the idea proposed earlier of being able to join the raiders, etc. - perhaps not as alternate start to the game but at least have some quest lines where you can join the raiders or mercenaries, etc. kind of like the vampires in MW.

Padding out The Power Of The Atom

Okay, I think the themes of Simms as an amateur sheriff, the CotA protecting the manual, and increasing the effects and difficulty of the quest are good. But what is the motivation for Tenpenny in wanting to detonate it? He seems far too sensible to be a CotA member, perhaps he thinks they...

Padding out The Power Of The Atom

ATM, I think Power Of The Atom is a great quest but it is a bit too short and easy. Here are my basic ideas: -Add a pre-requisite quest to both Lucas Simms (Sheriff) and Burke which you must complete for them to trust you. [Any ideas on what these should be that would make sense?] -Perhaps...

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

That is a great idea. With a little bit of work on making the faction-joining smoother (perhaps add some related quests), it could be an incredible improvement.

FO3 Rebalance and Overhaul (more inline with FO2)

Yeah, I absolutely agree with you on the changes. I hate the leveling system (although I do think it needs areas of varying difficulty through-out the game [setting it to 1 doesn't necessarily achieve this]). And I think the VATS slow-mo is good (I'd slow-down combat outside of VATS and increase...

    Settlements/Wasteland Expansion Project

Heh, I got around the email check by changing gmail to googlemail.com :P This is a great idea, I'll download it tonight and try it out then give some feedback. One of the difficulties with the new engine is that it can't support too many actors at once although Oblivion had larger towns...

    Re-creating Fallout 1?

Same, I've barely used the TES:CK or G.E.C.K and haven't finished FO1 or 2. Maybe I'll post on the BethSoft forums there are some great modders there.

    Vault 13 & 15 assets

Excellent. I was thinking how awesome it would be to remake Fallout 1 in the new engine. I'll sign up on BethSoft forums now. It's a shame the guy only plans to make Vault 13 and 15 but at least it's something I'm sure others will be interested in making the whole of FO1. The difficulty...

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

How about adding some UI mods - like ability to add notes on map, sort inventory better, larger inventory screen etc. Although this may make it incompatible with consoles (can consoles even use mods though?)

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

Yeah, it'd be better if weapon spread and VATS accuracy were tied to weapon skill rather than just damage. Also, is there anyway of adding more schematics?

    FO4

Perhaps, but Interplay's Fallout is dead. I think Bethesda have done quite a good job in reinvigorating the series, think if EA or something had bought it - we would just get stale GoW style shooters. Can't wait to see what Beth do with FO4.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #71

Yep, despite the bad ending to the main story, shallow quests and few and far between RP elements.. it's still GOTY. The VATS system is great, but I agree with you that there are a lot of wasted opportunities and it makes the game feel very rushed. But despite that I'd still give it 9/10...

    Virus question

Yeah! GNU/Linux ftw! It's a shame Black Isle didn't create GNU/Linux versions of Fallout. And I was really annoyed at Bethesda for requiring Windows Live For Gaming as Oblivion and Morrowind run flawlessly in WINE for me but now I have to dual-boot Vista for FO3.

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

I just think that VATS is way too overpowered over normal shooting atm. There are some bugs too like when you fire the combat shotgun you have to wait a second to fire again but there is no animation to indicate when this is over. Things like that make combat outside of VATS so weak atm...

    Re-creating Fallout 1?

Because it would make good use of the engine and make the original Fallout more accessible to new players who have forgotten about 2D graphics, etc. This is about providing a good storyline to FO3 and some good background for new players, not about re-inventing FO1.

    Thursday Modding Update

I might be wrong but I think they specifically put in placeholder stats for use in mods. TBH, I'd say 90% of the problems with FO3 can be fixed with a lot of time and the G.E.C.K, there are a few things like lack of vehicles, etc. which aren't so easily fixable, however.
