    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #71

Well I don't disagree that lots of reviews are rushed. But I've played Fallout 3 for a few days and finished the main quest, and despite it's flaws I'd still say it's at least 9/10 and GOTY.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #71

Yeah, but that's what most game reviews are like. They don't have long, FO3 is a huge game so they only play through a bit of it. Besides, if you played it badly, leveling _could_ be hard. Perhaps if you didn't fight much and spent ages doing little quests like Moira's.

Perhaps, but you have to remember the reviewers don't play the game for long.

FO3 Rebalance and Overhaul (more inline with FO2)

Care to say what specific ideas you disagree with? If they're big, there could always be two flavours of the mod but now we really need to unite all the different game balance mods into the F3C. I disagree with him speeding up VATS, if anything I'd make VATS more accurate and combat slower...

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

Hmm, I like VATS as is. I'd just make it more accurate with rifles and make combat slower outside of VATS. Perhaps lower the damage resistance too.

If that's your major issue, there are mods to fix it. The F3C compendium mod could make the game much, much better by padding out the good quests and making the dialogue trees better. So, yeah, there are problems but some people are working on fixing them.

Join the F3C team; read the official design plans

I'd love to help but I've only ever used the TES Construction Kit to do some basic scripting (NPC-enabled Wabbajack, among a few other things), I can't imagine my dialogue writing would be any better than Bethesda's and I'm British so I can't exactly provide voice acting. Oh and I have no idea...

    Fallout 3: Quests

Yeah, I think we really need a community mod to address things like this. It could be fixed relatively easily and if we do this for a few quests it would make the game much better and deeper. I love the gameplay of Fallout 3, but it does make me sad that Van Buren was canceled as it looked...

    Recomended Mods for Fallout 3

I think we really need a mod which focuses on padding out the major quests (like Power Of The Atom, add some pre-requisite quests to Lucas Simms and Burke before they will trust you, and have it where if you defuse the bomb the Bomb Worshippers attack you but if you try to set it off Lucas Simms...

    Fallout 3 Compendium - Release 12 - Beta v0.6.0.2

To be honest, I would focus on 'patching' the game. Leave the combat as it isn't too bad, but focus on making the dialogue trees more interesting, pad out some quests like Power Of The Atom, add to the main quest (perhaps change the ending). The quests (and their plot holes) and dialogue are...

    Re-creating Fallout 1?

I think it would be really cool to re-create Fallout 1 in Fallout 3. Obviously this is a huge job but we could start out by making general purpose mods like Shady Sands, weapon packs etc. and the gameplay changes eventually building up to a re-creation of Fallout 1. I'll do some work on...

    Fallout 3's commercial success

To be fair though, Beth aren't the only ones - although the Radiant AI stuff was almost on Peter Molyneux's level. Nothing will beat Spore for that though.

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

The years of development is irrelevant. This is a huge project of a game which would take years (just tweaking the GameBryo engine is huge itself). My point was they should've delayed release by a few months to polish the game and iron out the bugs rather than pushing aggressively for the...

    Raven Rock

Nit-picking much? These were tiny areas of the game, there are much, much bigger problems in Fallout 3 than this. I don't think Bethesda did too badly with the whole Wasteland feel except for the fact it feels like it's only been 10 years since The War.

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

I think that really hits the nail on the head. Some of my biggest gripes with Fallout 3 are a result of it being rushed and lacking polish - it really doesn't push the engine too it's limits or even test it. I mean no vehicles - even when they had the horse in Oblivion?!

    Will Fallout 3 be remembered?

I quite liked the Persuasion minigame - it helped stop it just being point-click dialog all the time but was still dependent on RP elements. Oblivion was dumbed down from MW though. I wouldn't say Fallout 3 is worse than Oblivion for it though - they are about on par really - but it's...

    Fallout 3's commercial success

Yeah, I remember all the hype about the Radiant AI in Oblivion was a bit over-hyped. That said, they still make amazing games even if they do over-hype some parts.

Fallout 3 GotY: Gamasutra PC #1, Edge #27

If anything I'd say the other way. Fallout 3 has a great engine but too little content. The building weapons system is great but there's only 6 schematics :( The main quest is good up until Raven Rock where it feels like they rushed it like mad. The world map is alright but there aren't any...

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

You could make the same argument against all great FPS/RPGs like Deus Ex, System Shock 2, etc. And you vice versa, with the idea that anyone could praise Bethesda.

Cool! Tesla tanks in Fallout! Cross promotion with Red Alert

Neither of those articles source their quotes though so it's pointless. Any real reliable sources?
