Fallout 3 coverage from here and there

IMO, the Fallout franchise hasn't been used as an RPG in ten years, and pretty much every franchise that's ever been brought back after that much time has been either the same thing rehashed again with no real reason to make the product except to milk the cash cow, or it's a much more glittery...

    Ghoul Radiation Attack?

Did anyone catch that from the gamespot article? "Their deadlier brethren, "glowing feral ghouls," have an unhealthy fluorescent green glow that sets off your PipBoy's Geiger counter and eventually make your character extremely ill if you let them zap you with their radiation-based attacks."...

    Letting Go of Fallout Editorial

I'm not going to bother standing up for the Crispy Gamer stuff because I do think that they're pretty piss poor journalists, but I do think it's pretty hypocritical for you to have already decided that the game sucks without knowing very much about it, but whenever anybody else takes the same...

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R./Fallout fanfilm teaser

The trailer is a bit heavy-handed and seems to be doing the whole Lord of the Rings "if we do slow motion close ups on people gawking wide-eyed at the sky and crying then this = quality drama" thing, which I'm not really a fan of, but it looks pretty cool all the same.

    Post-Apocalyptic books

I actually liked The Postman movie, and thought the book was only so-so. In both cases, the endings sucked hard core. In the book it sucked pretty bad, but the ending to the movie was bad enough to completely ruin the entire movie.

    In terms of canon?

The post-apoc novel I'm writing has Area 51 as one of the main locations. I too am including no aliens or weird conspiracy theories either, because I think it just destroys the integrity of the work unless you're writing a spoof.

How do you make guns and ammunition in a desert wasteland?

Does it need to even be "reinforced?" I thought it was just a given.

    Interplay's Fallout MMO

Well, honestly I'm just speculating on the type of Fallout game I'd personally like to play. In actuality, I expect that, given Interplay's financial situation, they're not going to be looking to make a meaningful game that builds its own foundation, rather than stealing from the EQ/WoW...

    Interplay's Fallout MMO

Okay, this is the streamlined version of my last post. The forums ate it when I hit submit and it asked me to RE-LOGIN. I don't love spending an hour writing a post and having it get eaten, so I guess I'll be typing in notepad for a while and C&Ping it to these forums. Anyway, the streamlined...

    Interplay's Fallout MMO

.... Son of a bitch. The fucking forums ate my goddamn post. Why doesn't NMA keep me logged in when I click on the box asking it to?

    Bethesda and PnP mechanics

Most of my philosophy about this is being taken from my philosophy about books, and movies and any art really. I am somewhat knowledgable about the background and details surrounding Fallout. Not nearly as much as BN, probably, but I think it's worth noting that my position here isn't...

    Interplay's Fallout MMO

Please point me in the direction of your extensive experience with MMO's that do include Permadeath, and maybe I'll take your cynical viewpoint seriously. But saying something doesn't work when it's never been attempted because the fucking mainstream MMO's are a bunch of pussies who are more...

    Bethesda and PnP mechanics

I see your point with that, Paladin Solo, and I don't even disagree to some extent. Fallout 3 is definitely going to feel completely different than the first two in terms of gameplay. In that respect it'll feel like a completely different game. I think, at least in the case of you and I...

    Bethesda and PnP mechanics

I'm ignoring the parts where I've already answered or responded, and I don't feel like repeating myself. I've been repeating myself a lot (you have too), and it isn't getting either of us anywhere. I don't believe that developer intention determines what ultimately matters to a game once it's...

    Bethesda and PnP mechanics

That's kind of melodramatic, don't you think? And tell me you wouldn't pay good money for a black, naked punk-rock Mona Lisa with cum on her face. EDIT: FUCK! Forgot the smilies! :P :P :P       :D :P  (The previous post was...

    Interplay's Fallout MMO

If you mean that it wouldn't be profitable, I disagree. I think that people are hungry for a different kind of MMO experience, because as it is, the MMO "genre," if you can even call it that, is seriously a joke. MMO's share more in common with gambling casinos than they do videogames. And...

    CRAZY POST-APOCALYPTIC SHOOTING ACTION

That's probably natural. Stories about wandering wastelanders typically have that whole fringe element to it that's very much reminiscent of Westerns. Moreso than any other genre probably as a result of the inclusion of more modern weaponry.

    Bethesda and PnP mechanics

These are linked a lot more than you seem to realize. That's my argument. Bethesda is taking the stuff of the originals that are purely defining elements of Fallout, and, for better or worse, they're abandoning the rest. Whether you attribute, and whether the Dev's attribute the other stuff...

    Bethesda and PnP mechanics

Sounds like logic to me. But in all seriousness, I've elaborated on that point about a thousand times now. Exactly in which way do I have to word it before you begin to understand? FPP = More Immersive than ISO This is taking into account no other game mechanic beyond perspective. When you...
