I restarted the game 3 times to check if it happens every time. It happened all those 3 times. Lenny is set to wait where he is on my savestate, did you try tell him to come along and then try to exit the area? (just checking to make sure)

The worldmap is really slow on my computer. Is there anything that I can do to speed it up a bit. Otherwise the game runs smoothly in 800x600 resolution (without the DirectX shader).

You probably need to reinstall Fallout 2 and then install the patch. I had the same problem when I tried to install RP2.0 and unistalling F2 and then Installing F2 again helped me.

One question. Does anyone know if the global shaders are any good. http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Global_Shaders I just thought that I dont want to put all that big resolution (maybe 800/600 or something tops) and if global shaders would make it a little better graphics I would like to...
