    Fallout 3 Editorials

Actually, if I recall, wasn't the currency in FO2 gold coins or some sort of minted coins backed by gold? I didn't mind it being changed in FO2, and if FO3 hadn't been occurring 200 years later I wouldn't necessarily mind it either, though I'm not sure what kind of gold supply one could...

    Fallout 3 Editorials

While his specific points aren't all things that should have been thought of, the point he makes is valid. All the things he came across are things that are going to crop up as people play. The megaton gifts, for example, while not a bug, are extremely annoying. I even knew they weren't a bug...

    Fallout 3 Editorials

This more or less hits the nail right on the head with this game. More time in testing would have likely not only allowed them to squash bugs and remove annoying things (like the railroad rifle noise) but also polish up other points, even possibly making time for improving the writing and voice...

    NMA: Fallout 3 review

I think this is a fairly solid review, and the "amusement park" comparison is more or less the perfect point to make about this game. The game is 100% amusement park and 0% "(speculative) historical recreation." If it had struck something like 75/25 even (some larger settlements with farms...

Things that Fallout 3 does RIGHT

I think the Yao Guai, while a bit of a stretch, is a decent idea. It's not really any different than having Centaurs be called... centaurs... People saw something that reminded them of a certain cultural myth and just started referring to the creature as such. Now, the fact that a bunch of...

    Impressions thread for positive impressions

This complaint keeps getting thrown out there, and personally it just blatantly disregards the fact that one game is fully voiced and another is not. People always say "I wouldn't mind just text" but let's face it, you would. If FO3 had been released as it is, but without fully voiced dialog...

    Vulnerable Children Mod!!!

I did, unfortunately the modder doesn't clearly describe what they did (a personal pet peeve). I'll have to try it when I get home. The screens show the one obvious problem that children's models weren't made with gore, but that's a minor problem. My real concern is does little Biwwy morph...

    Vulnerable Children Mod!!!

So is this essentially a script workaround, like attempting to quickly altyer the age categories of the children? Because personally such things tend not to interest me, given that they often produce wonky side effects.

    Radio Station Fix Mod...

I appreciate the point of a mod like this but when making mods you really need to explain what you did in detail somewhere. Spending tons of time dealing with Oblivion mods has taught me that unless you know what a mod is doing it could very easily be a misguided effort. Just a point of future...

The Tenpenny Lobby music is killing me

I would personally like it if the music were just an ambient sound that played near the elevators rather than all over the lobby.

two mods im surprised noone has made yet...

The real problem here is that odds are weapons are done the way they were in Oblivion. That is to say, they won't do a damage roll, they simply do a flat number based on skill, condition, and enemy damage resistance. It might be possible to script but personally I think it would be a messy...

    Fast travel/Random encounter revamp...

This is a fairly good start in terms of the script idea. The hardest thing, I would imagine, would be teleporting the PC and spawning enemies in random areas. There are two things that would make this problematic. The first is the height of the terrain at a given location. You might have...

    Kotaku: Fallout 3 is broken

I feel like the trend is simply one of not enough testing, across the board, in the gaming industry. It's not just a matter of bugs. There are tons of gameplay issues in many games that *ought* to be terribly obvious after bringing in a group of fresh eyes to take a look at a game. In...

Hah, perhaps it's time for a poll on that point.

    Oblivion Traces in Fallout3

Yes, most of the commands carry over. TCL and ADVLEVEL work, I know that personally. ADVLEVEL can even grant you levels above 20.

    Fallout 3 reviews round-up #35

Can we just start linking to these things instead of quoting them all on the front page? Kind of clutters up the news area, and I don't even bother to even glance at these at this point.

Involvement with BoS and Outcasts: What Can Be Done, How?

As far as I can tell your later interactions with BoS don't flag you hostile to the outcasts. And yes, all you can do is trade with them. Even BoS you only really do things with them that relate to the main plot, as far as I can tell.

Dogmeat was better as a snack than as an ally.

The real problem with Fawkes occurs when he's standing directly in front of the door in an area where there's obstructions on both sides of him. It can be near impossible to push him in such a situation., and often you can't get a line to the door to activate it through him. The AI is...

    Raven Rock

Of course the music was horrible, the point wasn't that it was going to appeal to most players, the point is it establishes a mood. Same goes for Eden's dialog on the radio. If it's ridiculous when you analyze it, that's because it is. It's not meant to be anything other than a politician cooing...

    Perception

Yeah, perception definitely isn't affecting ranges. Something else must have been affecting my earlier check. Sadly, a lot of the stats seem to lack certain logical derivative factors. Agility doesn't increase move speed or rate of fire, for example.
