    Briareus about VB's combat engine

MYSTARY You're question is based on the assumption that the PC can lure someone into a private area without the NPC being concerned about it. That may not always be the case. If so, wouldn't you expect them to go in with weapon at the ready? Yup! Yeah, that sounds about right...

    Briareus about VB's combat engine

BZZZ. Sorry, wrong answer. They aren't being told of the PC's presense. Oh, and did you forget the part where I mentioned So, IF you can lure someone to a nice dark alley and kill them quickly and quietly, you should have no problem getting away with it. Both the words "if" and "should" are...

    Briareus about VB's combat engine

I'm going to snip the rest of your post. While your logic is sound, it is based upon a scenario that won't exist. The system is setup so that designers can create situations where the PC can take out a small portion of NPCs without alerting the whole town if the designers want to. It just...

The game also isn't Pac-Man, should we not have the player running through hallways because Pac-Man did?

Easter Egg's I'd like to see...

Easter Eggs with pop-culture refs. should be uber-rare and hard to find. That said, finding some crazy guy sitting in front of a moniter singing, "Badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers, badgers...

Re: Cup holders..... Co-op, just like the IE games. No. I won't say more on this 'till J.E. talks about the story.

The obvious answer is the only answer. Everyone can debate on whether or not VB would sell better without MP and RT or with, but no one will ever be able to really find out. It's far more productive of us to work on implementing it well and in a way that doesn't *explitive* over TB...

No. While we do have more RT functionality than TB, this is only due to RT being far, far easier to implement than TB. All of the programmers are coding everything with TB in mind now. You'd be suprised what has to take TB and RT into account.

Re: Cup holders..... None since it's a review. You'd have to wait for a real post mortem. Sure, due to better equipment (weapons, armor, tools) and he'll have "TEH UBER" robot cnpcs. I believe so since we knew from the get-go that we'd have to include MP and RT. This has allowed us...

500k units over the shelf life of a title is shit. What matters to a company is how many sales they get in the first couple of quarters (exception: a game REALLY takes off after that or you happen to be Valve or a solo small team (<5) dev house). A slow trickle of 500k units over several years...

Concerns from game development of TB and RT...

TB is a part of the, "we're pretty much free to do what we want" thing I mentioned. Why? Reflexive built Lionheart, not BIS.

    Peterson?

Concerns from game development of TB and RT...

It's not the dev team's call to make. We HAVE to have MP. We HAVE to have RT. Beyond that we're pretty much free to do what we want I think.
  16. B

Concerns from game development of TB and RT...

Actually, dropping multiplayer would give far, far more dev time savings than dropping RT.

These, DAC's, and BIS' boards would be pretty boring if all of you agreed on anything.

    weapons ideas

A non-military grade material may not cause immediate damage, but that guy that had one shot in him and didn't get to a doc who could remove it won't live long.

Concerns from game development of TB and RT...

All it takes is a simple plan to coordinate which testers are testing what. Assign two testers to each area, one goes through it in RT, the other in TB. Then swap every week or two weeks to keep things fresh.
