The only reason that it used .223 ammo was because it was based on the Blade Runner gun, which was basically a revolver stuck in the middle of the receiver of a .223 Steyr rifle.

I usually like real-life weapons, but the laser rifle that Kaneda used in Akira was sweet... Actually, it was the laser rifle + decked out bike that did it for me... For games, it would have to be the .44 magnum w/ speedloader in Fallout 2.

That's probably right, though, if I was counting on someone for the survival of the community, it'd kinda make sense to give him decent equipment. My memory is kinda hazy though. Did they ever give a reason why they were only sending out only ONE guy to save them all??

That brings up another issue: I know it's generally accepted among the fan community that the character is called Fallout Boy and not Pipboy. But if you ever went to the Vault City computer with a dumb character, they refer to it as a Pipboy. So Pipboy is also right... :)

I was just wondering why the original Pipboy 2000 interface looked like it's been sitting in the wasteland for hundreds of years, when (I think) it should have been stored in the vault before the Vault Dweller took it with him.

Well it wasn't just radiation that resulted in the mutations. It was radiation combined with the FEV virus exposure, which maybe was blown inland and trapped in the valley along with LA smog... :)

Why does the Pipboy look so beaten down? I know it fits the atmostphere and everything, but shouldn't it have been in the vault the whole time and been preserved with all the other stuff? Unless there was something I forgot about its origins...
