A New "I Am Legend" Movie

In what way would this movie deserve any awards? The first half of the movie was ok, but then it went sharply downhill. The CGI was atrocious. *Spoiler* And what was going on with the infected? They defied all laws of physics and somehow gained superhero strength and toughness. They could...

    Kieron Gillen on Fallout 3

I doubt they're using much from FO 1 & 2. Bethesda's pretty arrogant about doing it their own way, and have pointed out that some people may not like the finished product. I think that puts them back at square one, as if they're creating their own IP, except they've got a whole bunch of fans...

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

How does NMA determine whether something is PA or not? There must be a criteria to determine whether a particular game is newsworthy. Having said that, I agree the discussion was going around in circles. Although that's probably more because the PA genre isn't clearly defined, and people...

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

Rome - Total War looks like a game set on Earth in the Roman Era, as opposed to AoD, which is set on a fictional world that has similarities to Roman culture. If AoD had been set within the real world in Roman times, but depicting a possible different time line with an apocalyptic event (as FO...

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

Sorry for the slow responses, it's a busy time with all the Christmas stuff. Agreed. Well, it's a fictional world, rather than a fictional setting within the real world. And there are swords, castles, knights, thieves etc. So even if the setting is Roman it's not such a stretch that it...

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

What??? We're discussing games here, not realism. I said that the PA genre leads me think of literature/movies/games in a certain way, which is more your modern society after a some sort of holocaust. I didn't mention any facts at all, just how I felt about the genre. That's a personal...

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

My comment on what I think of when I hear the term "Post-Apocolyptic" is no different to VDweller stating that he feels the term "Apocolyptic" best fits the Roman era. It's an opinion and we're all allowed to have them, if we're discussing it nicely. On the other hand, you stating that my...

Inside the Vault - Gavin Carter

I don't know, I had a lot of fun with Bioshock... :liar: Ok, it was good for about 2 or 3 hours. Disappointing really. :( Mick

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

If you were discussing "The Apocalypse", as in the 4 horsemen, then I agree it does fit within the ancient Roman times era. The term post-apocalyptic though brings to mind a post holocaust modern real world environment for me. Probably because I've seen it used that way in books, movies and...

    Decadent Round up Yet Again

My thoughts exactly. I did raise this question earlier and it was pointed out to me that if a world has been affected by a holocaust, then the aftermath of that would be a post-apocalyptic environment. It doesn't matter if the world is fictional or not. Mick

No, the child will just lie on the ground for 30 seconds, and then get up and walk around as if nothing has happened. Mick

No Playable Demo of Fallout 3

I'm surprised Beth isn't releasing a demo. They're missing a golden opportunity to make some extra money by charging the masses $4.95 to download it. :) Mick

    A Fallout 3 Conversation

Generally speaking you might be right. There would be some people, like myself, who would enjoy a variation of games though. I'll probably only use the console for FPS's. In my (limited) experience on the console I haven't had any issues with that type of game, and I'll probably keep it for...

    A Fallout 3 Conversation

Hey, good to see you back Rosh. I haven't been checking NMA as much as I used to, so maybe I'm a bit behind the times. I decided to buy an X-Brick a couple of months ago and I enjoy it for what it is, just a bit of mindless fun. Like someone said earlier in this thread, it's like watching a...

    Playstation Universe interviews Pete Hines

Good thing I just bought myself an XBox then. Although I won't be buying FO3 new... I'll just wait until it's available second hand for trade. Mick

Inside the Vault - Bruce Nesmith

COBOL was still very popular in the 90s, so I find it hard to believe there were so few programmers. A lot of the Y2K work in the late 90s was because of COBOL based business systems... I know because I made a fair bit of money fixing these. :) COBOL only really started to die out in in...

Inside the Vault - Bruce Nesmith

COBOL's not that hard to code in, there are harder programming languages. COBOL was good for its time as a business programming language because it's relatively easy to debug. The syntax is more english based than other languages, so it makes it easy to read. Mick
