Jesse Heinig in hospital, chip-in campaign

I figured he must be American as we are pretty much the only non-third world country without universal healthcare. In one of the presidential primary debates earlier this year the crowd actually cheered when one of the candidates said that someone deathly ill but without health insurance should...

Brian Fargo Unite 2012 Speech, Wasteland 2 Footage

It has been a really long time since I played Wasteland, but if I remember correctly that just makes it like the original game where companions would always empty clips in a random spray that hit enemies and your own team. I'd always give them a rifle or something that only let them get off one...

Colin McComb joins Wasteland 2's team

I'm embarrassed to say I never got through that game. I think it came out at a time in my life where I was too busy to be able to focus and concentrate on a game that deep. I still have it in a box somewhere, guess I should give it another go!

Wasteland 1 to be included in Wasteland 2

Nice to hear. Despite not having had a 5-1/4" drive for 15 years now I'm still holding onto my original disks "just in case". Now I can have a legitimate copy. I really hope they at least update the save game system to allow multiple saves!

    Contamination Europe: a PAARPG

The retro 50s things was an original addition, but otherwise Fallout wasn't billed as the spiritual successor to Wasteland for nothing. I distinctly remember being thrilled when I started hearing rumors of Wasteland sequel in the mid-1990s and have always viewed Fallout in that light. I have...

    Fallout: Nuka Break Kickstarter launched

I wish them the best, but there timing isn't the best coming hot on the heels of the Wasteland 2 kickstarter. I just gave what I could to the W2 kickstarter and consider this other project a far lower priority. I bet I'm not the only person in this boat.

J.E. Sawyer releases his own Fallout: New Vegas mod

I don't create my own mods and generally I'm pretty cautious about what mods I download. It is very easy to screw up your game with a poorly made mod. If I went looking for a New Vegas mod and had the choice to get one made by the developer himself it would jump to the top of my list. While...

My Fallout Monopoly & Buying Nuka Cola

Re: Fan Brand Infiltration Actually, yes, they pretty much are obliged to do something about it. In the US (and I'd assume the EU) your copyrights and trademarks can be lost if you don't take action against those who violate them. They could be nice and offer a licensing agreement, but...

    Bethesda's preliminary injuction denied, again

At this point Interplay is just a name. I don't think there is much of anyone left from its heyday. Honestly, I'd rather see Bethesda make this game. At least they have money and resources. It may be a lesser of two evils thing, but if they farmed it out to Obsidian it might even be good!

Feargus Urquhart talks New Vegas, bugs and Fallout Online

Very politically correct answer about dumbing down RPGs, but I can't blame him. It is a business and right now the customer base seems to be afflicted with ADD. I hate that it is that way, but if I were running a gaming company I'd be catering to the the largest audience I could too.

Interplay: we have the funding for FOOL

This is really a lesser of two evils battle, and to me Bethesda is the least bad option. At least they have the money and manpower to build a full fledged MMO that has a chance for success. If they get Obsidian to do most of the work it might actually be decent (but buggy). If Interplay...

An open letter to Obsidian Entertainment

Bugs that affect your game are major bugs. Ones that affect other people's games are minor bugs. I think this guy simply ran into a bug that affected his game and decided the sky was falling. We only have three major RPG makers left these days: Bethesda, Obsidian, and Bioware. Bethesda is...

Fallout: New Vegas Honest Hearts Reviews

Too bad the story sounds so thin. The Burned Man was one of the more interesting stories in NV and I was disappointed once I realized he wasn't in the main game. Once I found out a DLC would be dedicated to his story I was happy once again, only to be disappointed by the sounds of these reviews!

Honest Hearts screenshots leaked, trailer coming soon?

Used to be. Now it is a way to generate a bunch more money for things that probably should have just been included in the game in the first place, or were cut because they weren't up to par.

G4 Best Franchise Fan Vote Competition

X-Play (G4s video game review show) is actually a decent show except when it comes to evaluating RPGs. I stopped taking their RPG reviews seriously when their best of 2009 award for best RPG went to "Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story" OVER Dragon Age Origins. Sure Dragon Age has it...

    The forgotten revolution of Fallout

One thing I don't like about the editorial is the way it makes 1997 sound like the ancient past where programmers used rocks and sticks to create games. Graphics have improved immensely and now we can have fully voiced games, but otherwise I don't see what is so different about what could be...

    Bethesda vs Interplay hijinks continue

In the end isn't this really all about who can make a bigger mess out of the Fallout IP?

The Art of Video Games Smithsonian Exhibit

I hate that I have to choose between Fallout and Baldur's Gate II. As much as I love Fallout, I think BGII was the greatest RPG ever made so I had to vote for it. I did enjoy seeing Intellivision games in Era 1. That was my very first introduction into gaming as a kid and it brought back...

New Vegas is GameBanshee's and RPGWatch's RPG of the Year

It definitely is an accomplishment since Mass Effect 2 also came out last year and was the critics darling. New Vegas had the better writing and dialog options which I assume is why they won. But ME2 had a better game engine and combat (thanks to Bethesda's love of Gamebryo). A lot of...

Interplay: Fallout 6 could be ours

Interplay in its current state with Herve in charge would be worse than Bethesda for the Fallout IP. The best we can keep hoping for is Bethesda retains the rights but contracts Obsidian for all future releases.
