    Patches for Fallout 2

Instead of thinking of it as a bonus, think of it as a penalty. To extend Selphie's example: Let's say the rat has a natural AC of 5, which translates to an effective AC of 7, since there's always the +2 bonus added at the beginning of each turn. Since the rat initiates combat, so it spends...

    Updated Fallout 2 Mapper Scripts

As most of you know, many of the scripts that shipped with the Official Fallout 2 Mapper actually compiled to v1.0 scripts. That means that any changes and fixes made for v1.02D are missing. Well, I've corrected that oversight, and updated the scripts as necessary so that they'll now compile...

    Know anything about Worldmap.dat?

I thought worldmap.dat is simply the parsed version of worldmap.txt...at least, that's what the comments made in worldmap.txt (or maybe some script file...can't remember, and I'm at work) suggested to me. This is the impression I had: When Fallout2 first runs, it seems to read initial game...

    Patches for Fallout 2

Celestial: If you do try for the directory (i.e *NOT* .DAT file) version of Patch000.dat, you have to make sure that you include CLEAR instructions to the user to set the entire directory to "Deny Write" mode to everyone (including SYSTEM). Check out the other sticky in this forum for...

    Patches for Fallout 2

AFAIK, FALCHE should work as long as the number of global variables is the same as that of v1.02D...an extra global variable was defined as GVAR_PATCH_INVALIDATOR (or something like that...I'm at work and don't have the files with me...I do remember they spelled "INVALIDATOR" wrong, though.)...

    Fallout scripts

Unfortunately, many of the .ssl files that comes with the mapper compiles to v1.0 instead of v1.02D, which would have been more useful. A few of them don't even compile to v1.0. Fortunately, I have fixed all the relevant .ssl files so that they will compile to v1.02D .int files. I've...

    Patches for Fallout 2

Do you still have Patch000.dat file in your main install dir? If yes, that will cause errors. Alternately, do you have a Patch000.dat directory in your main install dir? If yes, and if the directory isn't set to "deny write" mode to all, this will definitely cause saving errors, since...

    is_critical and roll_vs_skill functions

I have been mucking about with scripts lately, just testing out various function calls in the game. The results were...enlightening. :) However, I have ran into a little problem, and I hope it's not a old problem...if it's a known issue, I apologize in advance! I couldn't get is_critical to...

Problems with Fallout2 Mods and patch000.dat

I still think the best way is to leave the Patch000.dat unpacked, like in the method I described two posts ago. MODs are easy to implement then...just copy stuff over to the appropriate Patch000.dat subfolder! However, I forgot to mention something in my last post. You have to make sure...

Problems with Fallout2 Mods and patch000.dat

I know it's been a long while since this thread was updated, so what I am posting may be old news. But since it's not here... If you're having trouble getting the game to read any of your modded files, the following steps always worked for me, assuming you have Fallout 2 v1.02 installed...

    Patches for Fallout 2

You decompile *.int scripts? I guess that means you must have a decompiler! :) Where can I download those (I can't seem to find one on this site)? Or are they private tools that you made yourself?

    Patches for Fallout 2

Fascinating. If jargo does indeed have source *.ssl scripts from version 1.02, could you please tell me how to get a hold of them? The source files that come with the official Fallout 2 Mapper seems to be 1.00...with all its flaws and bugs.

    Patches for Fallout 2

I've been playing around with the 1.05 patch, and I don't know if this has been noted before, so I'll post this. If this info has been posted before (or is otherwise generally well known), I apologize, and please don't flame me! Basically, the *.ssl files that shipped with the official...

    Patches for Fallout 2

Oh...I didn't realize that! In that case, would you prefer I send in compiled int files instead? The only possible problem is that it might "collide" with changes already made in your previous patches, since whatever changes already made to those scripts would of course not be in my scripts...

    Patches for Fallout 2

Thanks for the welcome. :) Ok, I've sent you the files needed to fix the Den Gangwar problem. On a related note, is it possible for you to release the raw *.ssl files you modified for your scripts? It would make it easier for modders to create things based on your patches.

    Patches for Fallout 2

Hello, I was working on patching Fallout 2 myself, but then time and RL commitments got in the way. I only had time to really fix up the Den gangwar bug(s), and fix up some of the spelling and grammatical errors for the related characters in that scene. Since you're already working on a...
