Vault Boy / Pip Boy / Fallout Boy...

Those made me LOL. I myself called him Fallout boy until the emo band confused people. Vault boy it is.

    Any board game fans?

Fury of Dracula does look good, I'll have to check that out. And I keep meaning to pick up "Arkham Horror" it's been on my list of things to do probably since the game came out :P I'm a horrible procrastinator.

    Any board game fans?

Board games I enjoy... Stratego has always been a favorite. Axis and Allies. Clue (particularly the expanded deluxe edition that came out a few years back.) Monopoly. Horror Clix (Don't know if it really counts as a board game but I'll include it here.) Chess/Checkers of...

I think I read somewhere that one of the later expansions is supposed to fix the game so it doesn't end at the main quest (Which was retarded, maxed out on rad-x and wearing power armor and I still die of rads? Meh...) Maybe that will add something worthwhile? The jury is still out on...

    Game Secrets

I like how the list states the dog in FO3 is modeled after the dog in "I Am Legend" (a german shepherd) and the dog in Mad Max (an australian blue heeler, I used to have one of these, they're really nice dogs.) I think a lot of these are just fans seeing what they want and drawing their own...

The Day the Earth Stood Still

Things you need to know about the new TDTESS... The famous "Klaatu, Barada, Nicto" failsafe line isn't in the movie. The speech that makes Ted, I mean Keanua Reeves, give up and leave is about on par with the speech that makes President Eden commit suicide in FO3.

I agree, "Fallout: Vault 101 adventures" would have been fine. It would sell just as much Fallout 3 because BethSoft has the mighty hype machine. The only difference being that fans of the original franchise wouldn't have expectations as high.

I like how the chaos of the wasteland is represented. You can be hiking and hear explosions and shots fired off in the distance. Or have a raider with a flamer chase the wastelanders he's harrassing right into you while you're looting a diner completely unaware until flaming people drop at...

I used to BE a hard core Star Wars fan, it took George Lucas a lot of effort to destroy the love I had for the franchise but he managed it. What little was left Lucasarts games finished off for him. I don't want Force Unleashed, I want Full Throttle 2.

    Fallout 3's commercial success

The early heavily scripted "examples" of Radiant AI had nothing in common with what went into the game. Beth rode the line between hype and false advertising.

I would disagree based on the fact that the Davy Crockett couldn't be carried easily by one man and it had over a kiloton of yield. In other words you couldn't shoot at something a few hundred yards away and survive the blast. The crew firing the Crockett was inside the blast radius and being...

    Fallout 3's commercial success

Yea, the 500 endings claim is something to get angry over. It was ridiculously misreprensented. Speaking of claims that were totally lies remember the early claims of Oblivion having soil erosion? It was heavily implied that ground would wear based on foot traffic and weather during the...

I didn't find the alien blaster during my first playthrough so I had to settle for some two shot kills when the plasma rifle failed to give me a critical head shot on the first shot. :P

I've been hitting the negative impressions thread pretty hard the last few days but I think I've vented most of my irritations. I thought I'd stop by and offer the things I liked about the game. The radio was implemented pretty well. The fact that it would fade and get static bleeding over...

Blood Puppy hit the nail on the head regarding the replay of the the earlier Fallouts when compared to 3. My first playthrough of FO1 was a pretty rough jack of all trades character, I tried to be good at everything and struggled horribly to finish it. I also didn't quite understand the perk...

    Fallout 3's commercial success

One thing BethSoft has proven they can do is build hype. They have a wonderful marketing department and they know how to play the reviewers. Raise your hands if any of you read the early previews for Oblivion, the ones with the earliest "HANDS ON ZOMG!!!!" Beth kept the reviewers out of...

10 most diappointing games of this year

Yea, Dues EX style inventory was one of the best I've seen as far as realism vs. playability. And I don't deny that Fallout had similar to KOTOR, Mass Effect, Bioware ad nauseum but FO is 10+ years old. Mass Effect can try to keep up a little bit with the times :p

That almost perfectly replicates my own experience (except I did find all the bobbleheads.) I loved FO3 pretty much until I got into the main quest in depth, and once you beat it there really is no incentive to do it again. Replay value is one of the things FO1/2 had in spades, FO3 severely...

The fact that Bioware keeps retreading the same ideas aside... Why can't they fix the goddamn inventory system?

According to http://planetfallout.gamespy.com/weapons/category/2/Energy-Weapons Gatling Laser is energy weapon. I'd check the game but I'm at work.
